cars on delivery

It costs me a lot less to use my car than it does in commuting to work.

I see no problem with using my own car on delivery and I doubt my insurance company will give me a refund for the extra business insurance if I don't use it.
The time and effort I save is worth it to me and I'd be happy to swap 30 minutes pay each day for a 30 minutes 'driving allowance'.
Doing the job the hard way is foolish. It may guarantee your work longer but it won't guarantee you more work.

the point we are all trying to make is that by using your own car then the person who would take you out to the start of your delivery is a step closer to losing part of his duty as you by taking your car is taking work from this person as he cant transport you to the start of your delivery or take out and drop off your other bags either hand to hand or to safe drops

does that explain it to you

royal mail has abused the goodwill of the posties over many years and still they want to rip hours out of offices instead of putting hours in because people like you come in early use there cars carry overweight bags forgo there meal breaks

its not just you mate its happening in my office and its frustrating to keep telling the guys not to do it for the above reasons and you might as well be talking to a brick wall for all the good it does

Like I said in a previous post, I drive instead of cycling and I'm happy to give my bags to be dropped off in the boxes.

Nobody loses any work because of me and Royal Mail saves no money.

lets try it another way . . . . . your union, which I assume you are a member of, has asked you in no uncertain terms to do the job properly and stop using your car. If you don't wish to do as the union asks then leave it and do exactly as you choose but remember you will be on your own and without the support of the union and your workmates.

Some of us stopped using our cars today on delivery and took our breaks before going out. Manager went round taking down everyones names and we were told we will not be able to use our cars again ( oh dear).Office was in chaos then suddenly these polish casuals turned up. Just goes to prove they have cut back too much and they have been taking advantage of us using our cars,so s _ d them now leave your cars at home.

If i knew what hardship "efficiency savings" were about to bring three years ago when SDD came in i would
of shouted to the rooftops about how important it was to not use our vehicles.
Now we know automisation is coming why don't we get the message across about how we should have a fresh start
and the implications of what automisation will do.
This is so important in that our full time careers are at stake here.We are not talking about something
way down the line.It will happen in a flash.
Let's get the message across that us 40 somethings will have no place to go once our job is gone.What will we do?
Who will hire us? Believe you me this will happen very quickly.
It will take two weeks to break the habit of using our cars and wash the SDD agreement away once and for all.
It will save careers,hardship's of families and stress.
Any future deals with basic pay will NOT include efficiency deals because it will be hard to take hours out.
Line managers and DOM's are scared of the word "cut off".You know it,i know it.
Let's use forums as this.Forget if your mate is'nt using the vans or the bloke at the next office still uses his car
That's a cop out.
Do something for yourself and your job.Remember this post those of you out there who intend to continue
to use their car.Remember this date.Industrial action or no.We have a new agreement coming through soon no doubt.
I assure you that jobs will go and will do every year.A new agreement requires a new attitude.

It never ceases to amaze me that some people still cannot see the writing on the wall about using their cars, RM are using the time we save ourselves by using cars to put more on to duties and get rid of people, we have been on the vans for 7 months now at Burslem and its been great, good banter at meal breaks and on the vans, bosses getting stressed out, if RM want to find the time to put more on my duty or get rid of me, then let them try and find it, if RM said to people when they took this job that they would have to use their own transport to get to and from their delivery people would tell them to feck off, i know weve all done it before, but for feck sake WAKE UP...UNITY IS STRENGTH.

i used to wait for bags to be droped did not use my car ..rain or shine not my problem they don't like it though if everyone did it then jobs would have to change less work = more pay got to be a winner ...
