RM did nothing to help me in putting in a claim against the owner, but the cwu union did fight my corner. It took us nearly 3 years to get a payment and an admittance by the owner that it was her dog!! As soon as RM found out that i had been given a small amount of compensastion money they asked for a return of the weeks money which they had paid me when i was off work. Typical...didnt want to know when i needed them :speak to the hand

To be fair to the RM it is not their job to help you with any claim against the owner
..You could have gone down the route in that the dog was already a menace and any previous incidents (if there were any ) were not recorded in the walk log (like any incident should be )...Therefore it could be claimed that the RM were negilgent...
Well that doesn't make sense and it's something i've thought about for a while, what with the CWU dog campaign thing.
If i am on duty and i get attacked by a dog and lets say it was a 1st offence for the dog and it's not in the walk log ect as a problem address, then if i'm not a member of the CWU then i'm basically screwed.

I work for RM and i have been attacked on duty then surely RM have to help me get compo.Especially as they claim lost wages back!
There is no RM anti dog campaign thing is there. :no no

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Well they may help you get copies of the ERICA , but if you think the RM lawyers are going to help you your very much mistaken..
The job of the RM is to prevent accidents/incidents(as the RM prefer to call them ) before they have happened ..

If you dont go through Simpson Millar as a CWU member there are plenty of other no win no fee ( even though Ken Clarke is ready to bin em ) ...Robin Thompsons are probably the best...

It's the same with everything POSTMAN you claim from the negligent parties insurance...if they have any.
If that is RM then fine....if it's a third party then you cross your fingers and hope the're covered.

Totally agree with you...

The reason the business is so hot preventing accidents/incidents (the RM love this because it saves them reporting an incident compared in an accident ).... is to save them grief from HSE and the local council....

Its just a shame the previous Government watered down the the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007 which cant send anyone found guilty to jail....
