SHOCKED Susan Hudson waited 15 days for a parcel to be delivered – only to discover it arrived in Herne Bay twelve days earlier.

She ordered the item from internet auction site eBay and was told it would take two or three days to arrive, but there was no sign of it after more than two weeks.

Eventually a card arrived in her letterbox saying it could not be delivered, but the date had been altered from a day 12 days earlier. Susan, of Mickleburgh Hill, said: "I was surprised to get the card because I'd been in all day, but gobsmacked when I saw the date had been changed.

"I saw the story in the paper and I just wonder what's going on down there. I feel for Royal Mail, but they are not helping themselves by doing things like this."

The Times' office was inundated with complaints following our story last week, with stories of undelivered parcels and days without post.

One reader had to buy another tax disc for her car after it was not delivered, and another had an insurance claim go missing. Rachel Rawbotham waited more than a week for a parcel, and when she complained was told there was a backlog.

Enid Elson, of Oxenden Park Drive, thought her friends had forgotten her birthday, but the cards arrived four days late, along with a half-dead flower arrangement from her daughter. And neighbours in Leighville Drive were abandoned by posties for a whole week, and ended up complaining to Herne Bay MP Roger Gale.

Some readers reported Sunday deliveries as posties battled through the backlog, but Andrew Perry, of Central Avenue, said even then a "could not deliver" card was posted through his door, although he was in all day.

They are really short staffed, loads have left and have'nt been replaced because maybe MC staff will want to transfer over to deliveries when they move to the Canterbury MC site.

well if you want to drive your car then you have to
DVLA will issue a refund in the end but you may need to pay up to get a disc and be legal

No you wont,'well i wouldn't anyway',1st it's on computer that you've bought it and 2nd you would just contact them and get a new one.

The fee for a duplicate tax disc

A duplicate tax disc costs £7 and is generally not refunded after the application has been received at the DVLA local office.

You don’t need to pay the fee for the tax disc if:

it’s unreadable or the colour has faded
it has been lost in the post
the police are holding it as evidence
a V14 ‘Application for a refund of vehicle tax’ has been rejected by the DVLA - a copy of the reject letter needs to be enclosed with the V20 form

You also don’t need to pay the fee if the vehicle:

is exempt from paying vehicle tax, like the disabled tax class
has been stolen and recovered without the tax disc

thats fine if you can wait for a new disc
if you need to use your car then you may need to buy one at the PO to cover you
then sort out a refund
it may say on the computer but it doesnt stop the offence of failure to display(after the 5 working days if its a renewal with no break in tax periods) or getting penalty tickets if you have to park in town on the street

Your right,problem is they say all the offices in the CT are the same,they have also had thier offices re-hashed with peggie and i am reliably told that they have chopped out so many full time jobs in the area that it is a bit of a mess,canterbury has been kept short of staff for years because of Dover OE shutting and they have used so many excusses for keeping the offices short of staff that it's a mess,thats why stuff is so late,i have a mate working in the area and has said the staff have had it up to the neck with it all.
