Another example of someone cutting there own throat!!! I can guarantee if a manager were to see you finish early having refused too lapse then your job would be on the line. Come in early and work in your own time but at the end of the day as far as they're concerned your start and finish times are as written, getting in early does not entitle you to an early finish. Also pity the poor sap who covers your day/week off having to explain why they cant get out on time. After all said and done this job has been totally carved up by numpties such as suz67 who just think of themselvessuz67 wrote:can't understand why everyone blames people who come in early and get there fingers out to get the job done, been doing this job for 13+ years and have made time every day,the problem is not with staff but with royal mail allowing it to happen,a while back i refused to do any lapsing because i hadn't got enough time,so dom decided to test my prep rate and delivery,i did the job by the book and all was ok,next day i came in early got my finger out and finished at 11.30,whats the problem,i proved that i finished early because of the way i did the job,not that i had not got enough work!!! the only way to alter things is by royal mail using a clock in/out system, and they will never do that,so until royal mail make it impossible to get done early stop keep blaming staff, blame your dom.

Totally agree and how many times do these idiots have to be told by the rep. Some of them are still coming in an hour early. Getting pissed off with being told 'he can do it in time why can't you'.maidstoneposty wrote:Its always been the same, they will throw what appears to be unachieveable walks and sorting standards at us but the flyers and early starters will cut everyone elses throat by still getting done- they will never learn, for the rest of us who do the job properly we get the harrasment and bullying from the dims until we conform to the tear ar*e twats.
The early starters, runners & docket grabbers are screwing it up for everyone else.

say what you like, water off a ducks back, but this numpty will do the job as i see fit,and if i get the job done, don't book, and make time thats fine by me,if RM want to clock me in and out thats ok to,but then i'll do the job by the book and cut off, nobody in 13+ years service as ever helped me (don't need it) so if you want to work to your time, have the dom on your back, and get all stressed out,(like most on this site) get on with it.

Way too late...the damage is done.suz67 wrote:but then i'll do the job by the book and cut off
Royal Mail now think we finish early because of "falling mail volumes" or we don't because we ain't trying.
They just aren't interested any more in any arguments about starting early or not taking breaks.
That's why they introduced the IWT and pegasus....because they thought we were taking the piss.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

fishtank i hear what you are saying, but people keep missing the point!! i do the job my way because RM allow me to and it suits them,if they want me to do it there way so be it,but they know the job won't get done,i don't want to be a union basher but the cwu have got a lot to answer for,i've been a supporter all my service up until this latest fiasco, but know its time to look after yourself, because the union certainly won't.don't forget i've been doing this job for nearly 14 years,so i've seen it go from a brilliant job to a bag of shite, but it just seems to me,on here most are blaming each other for the way the job is,if you've got more than 10 years service you'll know thats not the case.

What you mean is youve seen it go from a walk in the park to actually being asked to do some graft.suz67 wrote:fishtank i hear what you are saying, but people keep missing the point!! i do the job my way because RM allow me to and it suits them,if they want me to do it there way so be it,but they know the job won't get done,i don't want to be a union basher but the cwu have got a lot to answer for,i've been a supporter all my service up until this latest fiasco, but know its time to look after yourself, because the union certainly won't.don't forget i've been doing this job for nearly 14 years,so i've seen it go from a brilliant job to a bag of shite, but it just seems to me,on here most are blaming each other for the way the job is,if you've got more than 10 years service you'll know thats not the case.
Some people dont want to work for a living. Having said that I dont see why i should go home physically exausted everyday for £280 pw.
Personally I couldnt care less what they throw at me. If I cant do it, it goes back and becomes someone elses problem.

It this sort of selfish attitude that has got us to where we are now, in 23 years service i have seen this sort of attitude so many times and believe me it has destroyed the job. far from being stressed out im probably still in bed while your chasing around and working before your start time, i have and never will start early and i absolutely refuse to run round my walk. If i go over then i go over. Never had problems with doms and if your scared of a bit of grief from a dom then see your rep. Hope your pleased with the half hour you made on the end to get you home for bargain hunt. Unfortunatly that half hour you made is at a big cost to the job and your workmates...i repeat..numptysuz67 wrote:say what you like, water off a ducks back, but this numpty will do the job as i see fit,and if i get the job done, don't book, and make time thats fine by me,if RM want to clock me in and out thats ok to,but then i'll do the job by the book and cut off, nobody in 13+ years service as ever helped me (don't need it) so if you want to work to your time, have the dom on your back, and get all stressed out,(like most on this site) get on with it.

bullshit,i start at 5.45 and usually get in at 5.30,(wowee)shame on you if you've got 23 years service and all you can do is blame staff for the way the job is now, people must realise that its all a game with royal mail, its not about winning or losing but how you play it,remember 10 years ago RM never advertised jobs, you only got in through a family member or a friend etc, also 9 out of 10 managers are failed postmen/women who couldn't hack it,they're the ones who are telling you to do a job they can't,just think on monday morning in your office if the dom doesn't turn in the job will get done,if non of the posties turn in it won't,if you play the game right, and your getting grief off a l/m or dom, don't forget you can make there job a lot more difficult than yours, all i'm saying is most of the posts on this site about how s**t the job is are from posties with 2-3 years service, trouble nowadays theres no backing from the union, you've only got to look at this latest agreement, any union which agrees to "there are winners and losers" ain't worth jackshit, thats why i look after myself and sod anyone else!It this sort of selfish attitude that has got us to where we are now, in 23 years service i have seen this sort of attitude so many times and believe me it has destroyed the job. far from being stressed out im probably still in bed while your chasing around and working before your start time, i have and never will start early and i absolutely refuse to run round my walk. Your rushing around must have addled your brain, that selfish confused rant didnt make a lot of sense and your logic is a little confused, At the end of the day,Theres nothing that can justify starting before your time be it an hour or one minute, all it does is create difficulties for other people. Ive seen it all before, going back to the loss of second deliveries till now, this job has been destroyed by the short term selfish attitudes of you and your like. Myself and others have easier deliveries and jobs as a whole because we do the job as it should be done, you are quite right, managers are failed postmen, so why make there jobs easier by rushing around and achieving the unachieveable to any right minded rational person. remember bsi is directly based on an offices performance, meaning your prep rate from your proper start time is diluted by you starting early and therefore ultimatly gives everyone more work to do in any revision

Re: Wasting our time.
No doubt when it snows you will still be in early and out the door early, ill be tucked up in a nice cosy delivery office working at a reasonable pace, as with last year ill take my time owing to the conditions and do half a walk. Mind you dont slip and break your neck when your running up a driveway so you can make your half an hour on the end. Far from being pissed off, i just find it so sad that you runners are so naive and shortsighted about your job. I dont know how many years you intend to stay but when youve done a few more and the jobs further down the pan you might regret your selfishness. There are as you can see from the resposes on this forum, a good number want to look after the job.suz67 wrote:ok,fair enough, you carry on working your way,i'll carry on my way,i won't get pissed off the way you work, but you'll be pissed off the way i work!! especially when the snow arrives and i'm tucked up in front of the fire and your still out there freezing trying to prove a point, sod the rest of them look after number one,i'll keep saying it till i'm blue in the face, nobody, and i mean nobody,is interested in working together, and royal mail and the union have created this,NOT THE WORKFORCE!!
The workforce is the cwu and the cwu will only be as good as its members, unfortunatly there are too many shortsighted and selfish individuals who just do want they want never mind the consequences

Re: Wasting our time.
ok,fair enough,i've never ever run round my duty, but the way i do my job both indoor and outdoor allows me to make time, the dom knows that but he's happy because i (and a lot more)don't book and don't cut off making his life easier, all i'm saying is if staff (in general) are allowed to come in early, leave early on delivery, not take breaks, etc etc, who's to blame, that member of staff or royal mail, remember as far back as anyone can remember its been "job n knock",i still have a letter from alan leighton stating that, and it will be several generations, and the likes of you and me will be long gone, before RM will change this attitude.i'd like someone to explain why a dom doesn't open the office in a morning,in 14 years never seen a dom open our place up,i wonder why!
