Anna Soubry (Broxtowe) (Con): In my constituency there are 700 postal workers at the Beeston sorting office. To my knowledge, not one of them has written to urge me not to support the Bill. Two of them came to the Commons today to ask me not to support it-two in 700.

nothing about being shafted by Brussels, mps are spineless.
thanks for destroying royal mail revenues, so new postmen cannot have full time contracts.

Re: postal bill
Blair Jakehead, she knows alright.she's talking b****cks. Its not my office but I know for a fact she's had petitions from the members and the public. There's a big campaign in Beeston I've been on it twice and we've gathered hundreds of signatures. And as for only two postmen turning up at the house of commons, does she think that RM would allow 700 staff the day off to go to London? She's arrogant and self rightous and I can tell you with the empathy the public have shown towards her with the comments they've made her ship is sinking.
Its about time she got her head out the sand and woke up to whats really happening on her patch.

Re: postal bill
For the record there is a long way to go on this campaign. The second reading was always going to get agreed.
The fact is their is long way ahead for this bill. The lobby of the CWU which took place in committee room 14 was very well attended from every region in the UK. There were loads of Labour MPs and there were a couple of tories and one Liberal.
Not bad considering the second reading was going on. Billy and Dave spoke but perhaps the highlight was Dennis Skinner who gave a great speech which went down very well.
The bill will undermine the USO , it talks about having a regional USO , it talks about franchising offices and regions out. No new private buyer is going to invest in Royal Mail and provide the USO in its present form.
No private company is going to buy into the company and keep a pension scheme going which means that they have to pay conbutions too.
The seperation of Post Office LTD will see more offices shut. The bill talks about POL obtaining a commercial agreement with Royal Mail.Any new private owner will screw Post Office LTD over , the subsidy will reduce each year.
So the battleground has been drawn people can moan about well Labour tried to privatise us well they did and we defeat them. This time the tories and the sold out dems have chosen to sell 90% of the company and we know that the favorites
to invest is either the germans or the dutch and we know our pensions and our jobs will be at risk. People need to decide yes you might not like the current agreements but take a look at at the way the germans and TNT have treated their staff recently. Things will get a hell of a lot worse unless we defeat these plans.

Re: postal bill
emailed soubry, she wont reply cause im outwith her constituency....but it will rankle with her and she will know that we are watching and waiting to displace her next time...390 majority no way she will surviverocky46 wrote:Anna Soubry has recieved hundreds of signatures from local petitioning and has refused to talk to us.She knows the kind of support we've got from her constituents and the postal workers in Beeston.
If she wants to stand in parliament and talk bullsh*t about everything's rosy back at the ranch; she knows what kind of backlash she's getting from her public.
Another local MP who had a small margin refused to talk to us until they recieved five hundred KTPP on their doormat and a constant flow still going through. Now they want to talk.
Keep up the pressure!!!!
anyone else with conservative/lib dem mps with small majorities let me know and i will email them as well
