Jubilee Mail Centre Postmark

Post by Peg »

The Jubilee Mail Centre covers a wide area. Does anyone know if it is possible to tell from the postmark where a letter was originally posted within the Jubilee Mail Centre area. I have noticed the Jubilee postmark has a number on it eg CFC6 or CFC7. Does the number mean anything?

I have posted this question because we have recently been receiving anonymous post with the Jubilee Mail Centre postmark on it. If it is possible to find out whether the envelope was posted in a particular town e.g. Woking or Staines that might be quite helpful.

Unfortunately there's little you can tell from the postmark so far as I am aware. Date and Mail Centre that processed it are the main things.

CFC6/7 is reference to which Culler Facer Canceller machine the mail went through at the start of the mechanised process. You might be lucky and find that CFC 6 and 7 are designated to process mail from particular regions but someone from Jubilee will have to confirm/refute that.

There is no doubt a process someone has for locating the source of items like yours, if it is serious then get hold of our Investigative Branch and see what they think. 0207 239 6655 or securityhelpdesk@royalmail.com.

It's nice to see you have readable postmarks on them, ours are pretty shot.

Many thanks adb2aber for your reply. Might try contacting the number you suggest. The contents are not threatening but are unpleasant - quite bizarre really.

Perhaps if someone from the Jubilee Mail Centre reads this they might be able to confirm whether or not the post from different towns go through particular machines or if the post is all unloaded in one place and then go to machines at random.

That sums it up.
