However, as Jarjar and Clash mention if they're just trying to fiddle the figures, and by doing so are boosting their own bonuses, then f**k em!! The law of averages says there has to be a few decent DIMs out there amongst the herd of total assholes!! It's a pity the company doesn't recognise the good ones and sack the useless ones.

Kiminski you respect your DIM because he pulls his weight and tries to help out the office, Fair Dos, we've all had Relief Managers that have tried to help. I've had some I actually liked and wanted to help out!

It's up the the/a DOM if he thinks he can get away with the cuts and upping his bonus.roger wrote:It's not up to the DOM regarding taking on FT staff, that decision is made by regional director level.Straight4ward wrote:If I can present the other side of the coin;
In our office we currently have 6 vacancies and 3 long term sick. The expectation is that once we have had an office revision we will lose a number of duties.
The DOM has deliberately chosen not to take people on, only to disappoint them and get rid of them after the office revision has taken place. The vast majority of the time he has been able to cover the absences through people working either their rest days or overtime on the day. This suits the majority in the office. The extra income has funded all manner of beneficial changes for us in our private lives.
However, there has been the odd occasion when he has not been to cover the duties from available staff and he and/or a lino have been forced to pound the pavements themselves. Far from being upset about this the office is actually behind him and we don’t get on his case for doing this.
I guess a lot depends on the circumstances within your own office but for us the current situation works well.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

As a rep I flagged this to DOM because all staff complain DOM doesn't deal with other issues, such as booking annual leave when requested, however, my DOM's response was to tell me that f/t's would have to work 'harder' which he swiftly changed to 'smarter'

I was under the impression they could only do OPG work to 'maintain quality of service' or to maintain health & safety standards.pickaname wrote:My manager calls him doing OPG work "operational needs"

They have also contributed to their own demise with the planned managerial cull described on another thread...........the saying "what goes around comes around" springs to mind.
