it was VOTED in by the membership..................................
Not that long ago you would have said it was Billy and Dave's fault for even presenting such a farce before the membership with their "no plan b" scaremongering and doom and gloom roadshows. R u back in the fold,or have you just been offered vr ?:left:

Re: Christmas Door 2 Door
I, and from what I read on here many others are not happy with the deal we were told was a great deal. It's ok slagging the union off but can't we do something about it? don't Hayes, Ward and co have to be voted in by us, the members? We can moan and moan about the deal and can't do anything about that now but if we're not happy with the people who represent us then isnt it time for a change? If people feel so strongly about the way the union is run by the people in charge at the moment cant we have a vote of no confidence and get people in who we think will represent us better. Someone who has actually done the job we do more recently so know what its like working for royal mail. Just an idea

It's a reasonable question and one that you would imagine is a distinct possibility EXCEPT the CWU is like an onion, the outer layers protecting the inner core in the hope that they will move, over time, to the centre. You only have to look at some of the posters on here to realise that you haven't a chance of removing these parasites.madmartin wrote:I, and from what I read on here many others are not happy with the deal we were told was a great deal. Who would you suggest? all those on full time release have been for years, they have no ntention of giving that role to go back to work or the extra thousends of pounds the get for doing it... like dv says they protect each other for 1 end.. to keep each other in the cushy numbers they have

I disagree we can blane the yes voters, the union for even putting the option to us and the thousands of members who didnt vote, I am still shocked at how many memebers didnt vote. It will be interesting to see that if the union want us to go on strike over privatisation how many people will be willing to support industrial actiondelboy wrote:Only people we can blame are the yes voters! it is that simple..

Has anyone had any named day D2D yet, where they all have to be delivered on a certain day not over the six days like normal ones.

It is and it isn't.delboy wrote:Only people we can blame are the yes voters! it is that simple..
They were sold a turkey based on hope and trust and told there was nothing else on offer.
The sales pitch alone cost the union a small fortune but remarkably they couldn't find the money to send members a copy of the agreement.....and most branches joined in...they too had a position to protect.
If your just an ordinary bloke who hasn't even seen the agreement and you receive the propaganda that came with the ballot paper...and the DVD...and your rep is recommending a yes vote....and your branch....and HQ...and your being told there is no plan b....and your mortgage is due...well...you can certainly shoulder some of the blame for not getting involved more....but all of it?
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Spot on ft.............I was pretty sure it was coming from someone, everyone on here should know how anti I was and not just of the agreement but of the whole "only deal on the table", "it has to be a yes", and who could ever forget that famous line ""deal of the century"". I believe it was a deal that was foisted on the gullible by the powers that be, I thought it then and I have not had a change of mind.
I think i've read enough of your posts to have a reasonable idea of where you stand on the cwu/agreement/"deal of the century"/no plan b,etc.

Re: Christmas Door 2 Door
Ok lets have a look at some of the comments on here and lets get the facts straight.
Royal Mail were going to lift the cap on door to door and put it into workload with or without an agreement, Royal Mail were not going to allow this growth product to be left to being delivered or in some cases not delivered by arrangement. We had some OPGs delivering for a number of walks within an office and we had some who were door to door barons.
The union had a policy since 1994 and carried at most union conferences since then which was to get door to door into workload to protect jobs. What the union managed to do was trap the money as well with a review on future growth.
Whilst a load of people criticise this , the fact is Royal Mail`s starting point was that mail volumes and revenue have shunk therefore door to door work can now be delivered without payment.
Now in terms of the early shift payment the fact is in the future very few will be starting at 5 or before 5 30 so what was the union meant to do allow this money to reduce or get it in a permanent addition to basic pay which will grow in line with pay rises.
Now this old chestnut of sending reps back to do the delivery , well all great but whos going to assist the local reps in revisons or all the issues which people moan about on here who`s going to resolve them or the dismissal interviews or appeals. Sometimes I wish some of you actually came into the talks with us as you might get a reality check or better still instead of posting a thread on here go and argue with your dom or even better contact your rep.
If we lose the row on who owns the company then my guess TNT will take a big slice of the company. TUPE is not great and do you know what TNT pay for door to door or in wages to their delivery staff ?

Re: Christmas Door 2 Door
Dingo is always telling us what Royal Mail was/is/will do but what the membership wanted to know was what the union was going to do about it - well, that may be a little unfair, this agreement said it all really. Two statements said it all, "the deal of the century" and "winners and losers" one patently obviously a lie and the other a total denigration of what a union was - a group of workers united.
I may not even still be here when privatisation eventually comes but I will certainly take an interest as to what happens at certain levels.
