The job application is in the post

WOULD-be posties have been slow to come forward for Christmas work with the Royal Mail.

The run up to Christmas is the busiest time of year for the business, which recruits dozens of seasonal workers to sort and deliver the millions of cards and parcels.

Several vacancies still exist in the Inverness Mail Centre and an appeal has been issued for more applicants.

"It is vital that we recruit extra staff to help us cope with the massive festive mailbag," said Ian Haxton, Royal Mail's human resources director in Scotland.

"We still have vacancies in Inverness for people looking to earn money in the run-up to Christmas and who are looking for a great work experience and I would appeal to anyone who is interested to get in touch with us."

People can apply now by visiting http://www.royalmail.com/xmasjobs" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. Vacancies are also being advertised at Job Centres and Royal Mail sites.

And then they claim we are underworked. Dozens and millions, in the same sentence, without the words "bosses" and "bonuses". you don't see that everyday.

Maybe all those people who where treated like crap last year have told others what they're in for (only the professional tea leafs will be wanting to work for minimum wage).
It goes to show how bad things are when in an economy that is shedding jobs left, right and centre that a company can't get enough job applicants :nervous

ps. Maybe they didn't communicate it well enough that they had jobs going but that again shows that the management don't know what they're doing

pps. Of course maybe the reporter just wrote a junk piece and didn't expect us to dissect his story :hmmmm
