PARIS (Dow Jones)--The French government said Tuesday it is investing a total of EUR2.7 billion in La Poste in partnership with its investment arm, Caisse des Depots et Consignations, which will take a 26.32% stake in the national postal service.
The capital increase will be achieved through a EUR1.2 billion contribution from the government and the remaining EUR1.5 billion from CDC.
As a result, La Poste could be valued from a minimum of EUR3 billion up to EUR5 billion, depending on the achievement of certain business plan targets in 2015.
The investment will allow La Poste, which operates La Banque Postale as well as the postal business, to modernize its services ahead of the liberalization of the sector next year.
