How much sick have you had?

Wow,Alot of goodies on here.

Service = 15 years 6 months.

Sick = 372 days.

6 weeks serious illness,1 Week bad foot from football,1 week flu,1 week fell off a roof,1 week conjuctivitis,The rest of the time nothing wrong with me,Does anybody get any thanks for attending work? NO.

Balls to the company,Work the system and get out of it what you can,Some will gripe and say its wrong,I say the way we are treated is wrong,My respect went out of the window years ago for Royal Mail,Enjoy sitting on your backside and being paid for it,You deserve it.

great idea until its you with a condition that stops you attending work

i used to work in a place where we got 1 weeks pay at xmas(later they added a week at spring and a week at summer too) for every years service up to 4 years(used to be for every year! folks had over 30 years service and got over half a years pay!)
however you lost 5% for every sick
so 20 days off and no bonus
so there was a benefit to not going off sick
in RM it just means you work more days

been in the job just over 20 years and never been on a stage 1 during this time, but like you i will be getting a hernia op this time next month meaning i will miss the christmas duties ... i don't know wether to laugh or cry

you would have to be a bit of a mug not to take your full 13 days each and every year, these people suggesting ways off eliminating sickness leave are a load of back stabbers and saddoes. get what you can while you can!

Oh yes. I've had 2 long term genuine sicknesses,15 weeks and 24 weeks and always use my 13 days up when not on a stage. 15 years in job. If they didn't pay sickness then maybe the 13 a year would disappear but ant do anything about the genuine couple I had.

I've managed to be very unlucky when it comes to sickness.

Since nov 2007 to mar 2010 - 12 days, which managed to trigger stage 1. My own fault for returning to work when I shouldn't have!!!

Then a whopping 24 days lost to a knee injury. If I had been injured on the day I returned to work instead of 3 weeks earlier, I would have been reissued with a stage 1 instead of the stage 2 that it's gonna be.

Last year i had 91 days off with a broken ankle and serious ligament damage. That just about doubled all my other sick days in over 21 years.

another 20 or so to strike action
And maybe 30 for sickness here and there

I plan on taking as much as i can from now on
