It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

What's the official on the reg then for vans? And what about the ones that are carded?
If i have to take out late reg and i card them they are kept in the van until i return to the office.

Staff being told not to use trolley and put bag on back to make rounds work FACT.POSTMAN wrote:Quicky,do all the CDV duties have the light weight trolleys so there is NO on the back at all? There is nothing wrong with the theory behind van sharing and the use of lightweight and high capacity trolleys.
And of course you have some staff who ditch the trolley themselves in order to finish a little early.
This ain't no baseball game, you get only one chance and you blew it.

Well I,am used to seeing managers going out 2 in a van to deliver pkts!!! Maybe this is where they get the idea that it,s quickerbunkerland wrote:stokes11eg wrote:![]()
so another R/M idea bites the dust. on a serious note--have any plans been made for revising the revision, when it's finally becoming clear this idea won't work?
I really don't understand the logic of this van sharing melarky, but what i have noticed over the years is that managers seem to think that two posties going out in one van to do one duty, should do it in half the time, nice theory but it just doesn't work like that. The whole thing's just a complete farce!

Have you seen the training video for van sharing? Obviously like most internal videos it is funny but when he collect 1 Special Delivery for the two whole walks and they have no packets that won't fit in a pouch to deliver it gets a little suspect. Then one of them tootles off to deliver the SD before 1pm and comes back again to meet the walker.
Well there is at least half an hour missed from their calculations.
I'm also looking forward to bagging up. Two seperate walks bagged up into 1 walk with alternate bundles in each pouch. It's hard to describe let alone do it!

Re: Van share ...failed in Abingdon (oxon)
.... now boys got cycles back. Van sharing is not working.
Thought all the bikes were sent to Africa!
We needed bag drops, so they'll save a few bob there, but most Posties took the smaller packets with them. Some guys refuse to take ANY packets (even banding 4 or 5 DVDs together and putting them aside for the vans!), "Haven't got any room!", I thought the DIM had missed a trick by not insisting on them using extra bags and having them left at the nearest Bag Drop.
Biggest gripe about binning bikes is the old chestnut of, " if you haven't got any mail for 5 or 6 houses you can make up quite a bit of time riding to the next one." God knows how long it's going to take walking everywhere with your golf trolley!
I'd be happier if they didn't make these "Blanket" statements like ALL Bikes are going, it's horses for courses.
Like all Wage Slaves, he had two crosses to bear: The people he worked for and the people he worked with! (Stephen Vizinczey.)
