It could have been a great piece of kit had it been managed properly. Royal Mail management in too many cases is dreadful and the mail centres particularly are awash with them.

I mean in other countries they've been automating flats for years and the USPS are looking into WALK SEQUENCING their flats as well. Whilst good old Royal Mail have only just started W/sequencing ordinary sized letters.

I'm American. And gosh darn it, I love my country. But the USPS has lost $3.5 billion so far this year. Even taking into account the different sizes of our countries, I dare say that Royal Mail can only dream of throwing away money so fast...
Packet Machine was taken out of gatwick mail centre on 8/10/10, now we are using yorkes which is such a pain. so much for world class, all they do is to spend lots of money for what!!!. Every body is so fed up now with these new sorting frames for primary letters which are sorted into 12 pidgeon holes and then sorted again using new tube and bracket frames.

What is a tube and bracket frame?
Swindon PSC will be getting an extra 2 secondary legs (from Glasgow, taking us to 12) so think it is here to stay for now at least.
Just a little update to say that the NWMMC packet machine is being scrapped in August. I guess it's back to sorting into Yorks, if we can actually find any empty ones to sort into

And if you can find any sleeves Has anyone seen many of the new sleeves recently, they seem to have vanished from the system, well unless they've been scrapped they didn't seem as strongly made as older sleeves.
Just a quick update on the removal of the packet machine, it's removal coincides with a possible new floor layout which will see many if not all areas quite drastically changed.
I was also told by someone fairly high up in our World Class team about some changes like having the handstamp tube and bracket tables behind each IMP, kind of funny because we sat in a World Class event for more than 30hrs one week explaining and then going on to prove that such a change is slower and far less efficient in the overall process.
