Slightly early finish yesterday. Slightly later finish, (on a short day today) = 30 mins docket. And the sun is shining bright, and it's still warm out there.

I was driving back from my delivery today when I saw something that nearly made me crash, approaching me on the footpath was

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Wednesday was heavy, today even heavier. Considering we have falling mail volumes, I cannot understand why we are soooo busy.

We've had quite a light week, I was expecting today to be a nightmare, but it wasn't too terrible. Worse than any other day this week but not as bad as any of Wednesday, Thursday or Friday of last week. Not sure what's going on. Haven't even had a bad day packet wise so far this week. Maybe I'm setting myself up for a nasty Saturday tomorrow? I hope not, I'm going to the footy in the afternoon so I'd like to get away exactly on my finishing time (11.50am). I've noticed I've only got one lot of d2ds next week which pleases me. I'm not too downbeat about tomorrow either, I've never really minded Saturdays at our place, they're usually alright.

A "scaringly" light Saturday for me - in fact so light, I had one of those "senior moments" (also known as "Have I left the gas on ?") As the gaps between houses widened I started to think "Have I left a mech box back at the office ?". It gnawed and gnawed - so much so, I went back to check once I'd finished. Spotted a few linos wandering around with small bundles in their hands - but no-one shouted me over and I found no extra mech box (unless it's been put under lock and key to be used as evidence against me !)
The thought of my week's holiday - which starts NOW - probably helped with the "gnawing" ...
(One quickie - does a lino's duties involve checking frames etc for "left mail" (and Yorks for forgotten mech boxes !) - and if anyhting found should they contact the postie involved and let them know ??)

They wouldn't even notice at our place.
Work-wise, my day was fine. Light, comfortable enough. Kind of dawdled around. Had a few missorts, went round on the bike and posted them at the end. Nothing special but a solid enough day of work. Shame that the last van turned up about a half hour late - them roads must be getting busier between 6am and 7am. I also noticed when I got back to the D.O. that there were no managers around. Where do they go on a Saturday? Don't they have hours to work? And what's going on with some of these walks? Why do some people not have to take all their parcels? Why are there write-offs strewn over fittings like discarded pieces of paper? My immaculate fitting juxtaposed alongside seems somehow perverse, and by definition a freak of nature for its cleanliness. Door-to-doors also, left under fittings, undone. How odd.

Went for a few games of pool upstairs. Returned to the floor only to find out that nothing was happening, except the lights would be back on. Another break. Got back to hear that the lights would come on but no machines. Dived on the packets and got them up. Out for 09.00 and finished at 12.10.
