Maybe these "Roadshows" are not the best platform for getting to the meat and bones of the problems dingo.
After all it is surely difficult for an Area Rep to stand up in front of his peers and superiors and talk about.....failure ..even failure that is not directly their fault...sometimes better to paper over the cracks a little. :nervous

Serious question Dingo.
Is there any benefit in Area Reps and Div Reps not reporting what is actually happening in the revisions they have a stake in.
Apart from not wanting to admit failure on their part.
And yes I know it's difficult with the apathy & selfishness from some members and non- members.
If no problems were reported something is sadly wrong.

Plus the union intends to go out and organise local reps meetings in a similar way as prior to the agreement. If there are issues lets get them out on the table and sort them. The union is not hiding it intends to meet the reps from your office and hear what they have to say and resolve the issues.

dingo wrote:Currently there are national delivery roadshows taking place , North East roadshow was last Friday in York where the Branch`s and the area reps get the opportunity to report back and ask questions on all offices within their control.

London and Anglia are tomorrow , Northern Ireland is Thursday and others next week.

I have to say what some report on here has yet to be reported in these forums which are taking place. Yes thats not to say there are some offices which may have gone in which is having problems but not on the scale some report on here.

The vast majority of area reps reprsent the units they cover and fight for them often in very differcult circumstances sometimes without the whole support of the members in the office who only see finishing early as the answer.
:chuckle The Area Reps report all is well with the world - so it must be. Remember the Get the Deal in at Any Cost Roadshow................run by the same guys who stand to gain the most.

GB there is no point whatsoever as each branch has committee meeting where reps report issues , each branch attends a divisonal committee meeting where they then report the issues oof concern , divisonal reps then raise the issue nationally. Then those issues are brought up at the NDG.

In any case all unit reps will be called to a meeting in the next few weeks. This is hardly a union running away from the issue.

How do we know what is posted on here is true ? There is no investigation is there.

The amount of horror stories on here outweigh the number of offices which have actually introduce revisons.

Now I am not saying anyone is telling porkies but are you saying area reps , local reps and divisonal reps are all lying.

Either that or they have not got a complete clue or grip on what's going on.
It's not just what WTF has posted about SR1&4s there is more.
We are talking about complete walks being left in on a daily basis and people being pressured to abandon the weight of the shoulder methods and put the bag back on their back with the longer spans just to come anywhere near completing.
It is a shambles up here believe me or not.
Savings, effiency what a joke the overtime bill is through the roof, for treading water at best.

Dingo, now you know i've a lot of respect for you and i'm not saying that RMC is the be all and end all of what is happening but, when you 1st came on here you sung the praises of P&M and were shot down by those who got shafted by it.
You also i guess remember the 500 or so offices that balloted for strike action before we went national because of said shafting.

A lot of branches and divisions were blamed for what had been going on,whether that is right or not something wasn't right re the 500+

All i can say now about the situation is............de ja vous

And for the record for people looking in,me and teebs don't drag people on here off the streets, they are here of their own accord, think about it.

Postman I said on pay and mod that the agreement we achieved was the best we could have got at that time. We had 8 days out and not everywhere was still strong. I attended all the briefing and all the conference calls . I will not name the Branch`s but what was happening in certain branch`s was more than a drift back to work.

Plus the sentilement came when Liverpool was out on unofficial action , and a large chunk of London was out on unofficial. The Liverpool action was as a result of Royal Mail moving later starts without any acceptable solution. The London action started in E16 based on later starts and in Streatham where they 30 staff were taken off pay for the 10th time.

Plus Royal Mail were challenging the ballot and our legal advice was not good. Plus would we have got as good a yes vote 8 days into strike action ?

Now in London we used the pay and mod agreement to get improvements in attendances like 4 day weeks and earning packages.

Of course I remember the 20 days of strike action i was one of those who led it. But a lot of posters on here did not take that action postman thats a fact. Every Branch and office were encourage to take a roll call and stand up and be balloted well it did not happen they were happy to leave it to us to fight. There were even offices who had exectuvive action imposed on them and they did not ballot.

If every branch had stepped forward and showed unity we would have got an agreement quicker. Now I have been critical of CWU Hqs not going to ballot quicker enough but they conducted opinion polls in all areas in June , July and August and based on them we would have struggled to get a big yes vote. Branch`s started to do the work and then in Septemeber things were looking better and we got the ballot vote right. Talks however were well advanced and at one stage not far from agreement on an interim agreement then the Panorama Royal Mail document came out and the union issued notice on the first strike.

We had a meeting there after which every region reported the effects on the ground and the dispute was not as well supported as in 2007 and there were areas with more in work than out.

On November the 5th the union achieved the interim agreement which paved the way for negotations on the exective action and on achieving an agreement on Royal Mail`s business plan.

Now lets get one thing straight Royal Mail wanted to change the workplan which was based on their automation plan. This was never negotatiable. There are only two options with walk sequencing one is to sequencing all the mail at 0600 which would be cheaper for Royal Mail and would lead to everyone started later and a lot less full time jobs and the removal of all improved attendances ie the Dutch delivery model.

Dingo...no offence but most of us have moved on from the how's,why's and what might be's from last year.
Ok...we still debate them on here but we know you can't change what is...for what might have been.

What's happening now and in the future is much more important and what is happening is that SOME offices are getting turned over...badly.
Now if this is not reaching divisional level then something is wrong somewhere and i'm not interested in nonsense about weak offices or areas because they all cough up their subs the same way and are all entitled to the same protection.

The reason you struggle to get a national vote is precisely because some areas get turned over and feel isolated in the first place.

It's a question of trust. I don't trust RM and I don't trust the CWU. I always get the feeling that no matter how "up front" they appear to be there is always a hidden agenda.
