Residents left in limbo as Garndiffaith post office suddenly closes

RESIDENTS in Garndiffaith have been left in limbo with the sudden closure of the local Post Office.

Customers have been met with signs saying the branch has closed until further notice and Royal Mail has confirmed it is doing everything it can to reinstate the service.

The branch closed on September 9 and Garndiffaith cllr Raymond Williams said local people are missing the service.

He said: "I have offered to take pensioners to the Talywain branch. The Post Office is a part of this community and we want to see it returned."

A spokesman for Royal Mail explained: "We are very sorry for the temporary loss of service at our branch at Garndiffaith, due to circumstances beyond our control.

"We do however understand the impact that such closures, however short term, can have on the elderly, mothers with children and the disadvantaged in our communities, who rely on our branches.

"We would like to reassure our customers that we are doing all we can to ensure that a service is reinstated as soon as possible."

In the meantime customers are being advised to use other Post Office branches in the area, such as Talywain and Pontypool.
