No dv we don't have machines...our machines are 25 miles away in the M/C the revision....don't get me started..that also could have/should have gone in on Monday but we are having a Mexican stand off at the moment over capacity plans/IWT/D2D/Duty Spans/Attendance patterns/FTC/the price of the coffee...etc etc.....dvbuk55 wrote:From that I presume you already have your machines in and have implemented the revision. Is that CDV's with packets tracked and reg added?fishtank wrote:Which one?POSTMAN wrote: What duty pattern is that then?
The 8hr 15min is a five day week with a rotating day off+1 extra Sat to give 1in3 Saturdays off.
The 9hr45min is just a straight 4 day week over a 3 week pattern.
Both based on an average 39hr week.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Now i still don't know properly how the f***ing CDV shite works but are you saying the driver will do all the packets reg ect and a 4-30 walk and the non driver just a 4-30 walk?
I thought it was supposed to be 'shared'.

No...the driver will do a 4hr walk and then deliver the large packets, reg and tracked while the non-driver finishes of the walk.POSTMAN wrote: Why?

Re: Why is every office different ?
We've all been through revisions before some with resigns and some without. This is, certainly in my experience, the most difficult revision so far and may even be called a revision too far....certainly too fast. Our walks are coming out at around 4 hours but there is a lot of work still to do on some elements of indoor work not yet accounted for, the many facets of the resign with so many part timers with disparate hours and not least of all getting the equipment.
Just the time we all need to be going in to something like this just before Christmas
This is definitely my last Xmas and I have a feeling that it is going to be by far the worst.

Well you're being mugged, there is no way that 1 guy,say me,can do the reg ect for 2 walks (which i presume it is)in 30mins!fishtank wrote:Fish wrote: Well it is for the driver....not obviously for the non-driver,he's expected to walk the full 4hrs30mins.No...the driver will do a 4hr walk and then deliver the large packets, reg and tracked while the non-driver finishes of the walk.POSTMAN wrote: Why?

You will do most of them during the delivery....it's only the oversized that will be done at the end.POSTMAN wrote:

Don't worry about us POSTMAN...we won't be mugged by anybody...that's why we are doing a count of all oversized packets, tracked and reg at the moment..and that's one(of the many) reasons that the revision has stalled.
We might not have watnots up here but we're nobody's mugs.

Well they aren't being mugged, and you know what they say about everyone being in the top 10% and best working practices to be employed across the board?POSTMAN wrote:Well you're being mugged, there is no way that 1 guy,say me,can do the reg ect for 2 walks (which i presume it is)in 30mins!fishtank wrote:Fish wrote: Well it is for the driver....not obviously for the non-driver,he's expected to walk the full 4hrs30mins.No...the driver will do a 4hr walk and then deliver the large packets, reg and tracked while the non-driver finishes of the walk.POSTMAN wrote: Why?

Let me just run this scenario by you:
Driver A comes in at lets say 0600, and preps the mail for both deliveries
Driver B comes in at 0830 and both finsh prepping - out they go with a 4 hour delivery at 0930
Driver A completes his shift at 1400 both return to the office where Driver A leaves. Driver B loads up with parcels and delivers them alone up to his time.
Just one scenario based on an 8 hour day.

Re: Why is every office different ?
Why is it not right? Under the terms of the 2010 and Beyond Delivery Methods Revision - anything goes that produces the productivity necessary. It may not suit some people, and it may not suit a 4 day week system especially with the provision of walk sequenced mail because the delivery span would be horrendous.POSTMAN wrote:I know fish YOU won't be mugged perhaps i worded it wrong. It obviously aint right.fishtank wrote:You will do most of them during the delivery....it's only the oversized that will be done at the end.POSTMAN wrote:

You've got CDV's how is it working for you, surely with a new revision with all the figures put into the mix and especially the large amount of part timers you have you would of made out of it?dvbuk55 wrote:Why is it not right? Re: Why is every office different ?
Not really, we will lose 4 bulk duties because the new CDVs will be taking the large packets. The delivery spans are all over 4 hours for CDV deliveries and HCT deliveries. The new geo-route sorts out the delivery in what is, at face value, a logical way set on the parameters it's programmed for - they have not been installed yet but I doubt they will be changed now. I know I keep saying it but if you have a 4 hour+ delivery span, even on an 8 hour day, you just cannot find the indoor work to fill full time vacancies AND THAT IS BEFORE THE WSMs COME IN NEXT YEAR and that, I believe, will be my swan song. That is also when the late collection hybrid duties will be brought in to keep as many 8 hour jobs as possible I would imagine.POSTMAN wrote:You've got CDV's how is it working for you, surely with a new revision with all the figures put into the mix and especially the large amount of part timers you have you would of made out of it?dvbuk55 wrote: Why is it not right? The walking deliveries with the HCTs are now down to 16, primarily because we have a large area, so there ain't much within a mile......................I should also add that the CDVs also have trolleys and so the walker will be taking much larger packets on BOTH that they would not have considered before. The van will only be taking the biggest.
