I didn't know they filmed Rebus in Glasgow...i've never watched it but i have read the books and as far as i'm aware Rebus is meant to be LBP not Strathclyde....tossers.

Not as bad a day as I was expecting. Did it in 5 bags today rather than my usual 4, but that wasn't too bad for a Thursday, really. I always keep my bags reasonably light (manageably light, 12 - 14kgs at the max) unlike many others in my office, aiming for as few jam-packed bags as possible. Three bags for a round seems to be a target. Idiots. Yesterday was probably worse than today, looking at it.

Careful with the bag weights Taurus -16kg is the limit for the first bag and then depending on which particular matrix your DO uses it drops to 10kg and even 8kg as you go along. If a section is predominately stairs or steep slopes it goes down too 5kg.

My bags are generally okay, my last bag today was about 5kg (I always pack a light bag at the end), my heaviest bag was my 1st, etc. I'm not going to break my back doing the job, unlike some at my DO who seem to be on a mission to reach an early grave. Good luck to them, I say.

Yet another inpromptue meeting on the shop floor to chat about the revision. Don't know why they bothered, they have already decided on the layout of the walks, without consultation. Last week they sent someone round the office to check on what parts, if any, would be dangerous to perform with an HCT. Today, the walks went up, and to my horror I discovered that all the advice I gave last week had gone out of the window. After a rather heated burst in the direction of the planner, he has now decided to take another look at the walk and the delivery method. Anyway, we didn't go for a break until 9am!. Stuff still to be thrown off as I went upstairs. Finally got out after 11 and will be booking 1 and a half hrs due to heavy day + lapsing. The mood in the office was, to put it mildly, not good. A manager anounced out loud that he was not aware that we should be having 1 to 1s regarding the changes. (There have only been a handful perfomed so far) Revision in by November? If it is then it will be a cock up.

I have a suspicion, we'll wait and see. I did something in good faith that has come back to bite me on the arse, and it's as much because it's what my 'workplace coach' does (I simply followed suit) than anything else. But naturally, I shall not elaborate unless my suspicions do come to fruition. Let's just say I have been tipped off regarding this issue and am aware that 'something' shall occur. What that is is anybody's guess. I might be lucky in that my office is down to a skeleton staff, and has not been allowed to recruit the additional staff it so desperately needs. I have a hope/feeling that they might show leniency because I doubt they'll be allowed to recruit anyone else even should they chuck one out of the door. I recently overheard a conversation regarding discipline where somebody had been treated 'too kindly' for an offence that our DOM thought merited the sack.

I feel the need to elaborate on my day a little bit. Let off steam. Vent my R.A.G.E.

Got in, only had half a packet bag.

YES! I thought. That was the high point of my day.

Got to my fitting, round was still being chucked out. It looked ominous. I went to the missorts pile whilst the chucker outer finished off, and every single pigeon hole was crammed with magazines. Took me FORTY FIVE MINUTES to chuck out my missorts, and they were full again when I got back. FInally got to the packet bag after throwing those piles of scheisse out (the amount of customers who said 'bin' to me today after I had to throw all that tripe out! ARGH!!!). The half a bag was all for ONE STREET. How do you split your bags when they're all on one street?

So I just tied the packet bag back up and sent it out with the driver. I had to do the packets separately on the bike, thus enabling me to keep the mail in the bag.

In the end, I had four bags that were pretty much all mail, plus the anomalous bag, which likewise was all mail but had a load of excess packets stuck in ANOTHER bag. The maiil itself was ludicrous. Three bundles to every one I would usually have had. My 'quiet' street was a whole bag. Specials - no-one in. Why do they get specials if they're not going to be in?

It was one of those days where, after what's already happened, I felt like jacking it in halfway through, throwing the bag in the hedge and saying "FRAK THIS MOTHER FRAKKING JOB'.

May well happen tomorrow.
