At the London Awards for Excellence, Royal Mail was awarded a Big Tick in the Healthy Workplace Award category.
Royal Mail’s objective is to reduce absenteeism and engage with and support all employees. Their health and wellbeing programme is sponsored by Wellbeing Governance Board who set the strategic direction for delivery.
Royal Mail has two key areas in its health and wellbeing programme; education and health screening interventions that help the company to engage with employees which is a key objective in their people plan. Where they have been unable to reach employees for an annual health screen, due to the wide spread of employees across the country, they have invested in an on-line screening programme which is also available to immediate family members.
The success rate of their scheme is demonstrated in the 0.39% reduction in absence over the last year, equating to a £15m saving, and their initiative HELP (Royal Mail’s Employee Assistance Programme) has given support to 15000 members of staff through telephone and face to face counseling sessions.
Royal Mail were one of 28 companies to be awarded a Big Tick at this year’s London event, which this year was hosted at the internationally acclaimed Whitechapel Gallery. Is this a wind up?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
