Any offices or reps that agree to changes that force members(full-time or part-time) onto attendance patterns that they don't want or can't do need to have a serious look at themselves....that's the polite version.

If you have 75% full-time and 25% part-time you could screw over your part-timers knowing that if you kept your full-timers sweet the vote would still go through.....it's still democratic but it's democracy for w*****s.

It's not the vote that's the problem.
We're not talking about minor bitching about the size of walks or one walk being bigger than another....this is attendance patterns.
NO-ONE should be forced onto an attendance pattern they don't want....would you accept it?
It's not a case of the many suffering...it's a case of... if you can't implement an attendance pattern without forcing members into something they don't want then that attendance pattern is NOT viable in your office...move on to one that is...there are many to choose from.

No you can't keep everybody happy but you can at least make them feel that they all have an equal stake in their future.
The secret is not to put a vote in front of your members that screws people over in the first place...it's not rocket science.

There isn't a office in the country that doesn't have a few of you can't I won't make changes to my duty or attendance pattern however you try to accomodate them.
All you can do is offer the best you can for the vast majority which is in the best interest of the office as a whole.
Then when it happens again a couple of years down the line you will have the same people saying you can't change my duty or attendance pattern I like need this one

I think we both know this isn't a case of a few awkward people...this is one group of people getting what they want at the expense of the others and dressing it up as "the best interests of the office as a whole".

I have never worked in a 75/25 split office, 60/40 in "the good old days" more like 50/50 now or even less.
So IF the group of people you refer too are FT shafting PT never been the case in my experience.
Or is the group of people the ones with more seniority than others(should that system go completley).
RM pay our wages,us/the union try and get the best possible deal we can but at the end of the day he who pays the piper calls the shots.
In answer to one of your questions if my duty attendance pattern was changed against my will and I had no choice of anything else in a repick, I would have a stark choice stay or go and I am 99% certain what choice I would make.
Change doesn't paralsye me with fear.
Lastly we may have different opinions on this subject but we have put them on here in a civil way which I respect you for

I was working away quite nicely for last 6 years doing my 5.24 for three days and 6 summit for the other two. Got out of office about 8am most days and by a bit of a rush could be done 20-30 mins early some days and other days finish on time and this is with absorption chucked in. Loved the job it till this week when two of my rounds vanished or will do soon, only for one of them to be merged with another round making it a huge round. The other one they want to stick half a round on it to be doen within an hour!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I won’t get finished under the new scheme two days a week until about 1-2pm.

They have guaranteed absorption will vanish for at least a year. (yeah right) I have commitments after work that have never interfered with RM. It says in my contract for any other biz not to interfere with RM. So, how come RM can now interfere with ,my biz then? How come the rep and his click club get off virtually Scott free and in fact the two full timers in the said club will be home before me a ferking part time and that can’t be right can it???????
I am ferking well angry about it to say the least. I detest reps who are simply not fair and brown nose the doms to suit the clicky club. Makes me puke.

It is a blatent way of pressursing staff to leave.

Its been fine for 6 years. So why should I be expected to work round their job if they are inflxible? Do you think its right acancer victim gets put on nights???????????

I see in the BS Monthly )(Courier) what a family friendly bunch RM are and how all this ficticous posties say the job is so much better them after , Pegasus, georoute, later starts are, revisions etc All BS cos I have never met anyone who loves the job like that.
