no Saturday, no reserves or covers. my, we are a selfish, shortsighted bunch!
What possible relevance does your contracted hours have on whether you want rid of Saturdays?
As far as i'm aware both full-time and part-time work Saturdays..our reserves and RDCs are a mix of full and part-time....i'm full-time and i voted NO....and i'm sure plenty of part-timers have voted YES....i don't get your logic at all.
The vast majority of full time posties have their own round. That's an undisputed fact.
The vast majority of posties also do not think about, or care about their future. Another undisputed fact.
Yes, some full timers are reservers, yes some part timers have a regular round.
Some……
Signing up for the five day week is knifing your fellow worker in the back and judging by the results here things are worrying, although the result does not really surprise me.

The vast majority of full time posties have their own round. That's an undisputed fact. True, but how does that affect people's decisions regarding Saturday Deliveries?
The vast majority of posties also do not think about, or care about their future. Another undisputed fact. On the contrary! Many of us care a lot about the future, and what the service, and of course our jobs within it. Will be like. Where are you getting this misinformation?

andy, do remind me how many people bothered to vote in one of the most important agreements in years?
Then perhaps we can continue this discussion.
As for your other point, the more likely you have your OWN round, the more likely the change will not affect you. Floaters on the other hand will be screwed.

It's nothing to do whether you have your own round or whether you are a rest day cover!
What are people thinking that's going to happen, the 5 day service comes in and all the rest day covers, regardless of seniority will be pushed out.
FFS come on get a grip!
There's been discussion on last in first out, perhaps we may have to re apply for our own job, some matrix system is mentioned somewhere.
No one knows, but it defo won't be who holds the rest day cover duty is out of the door!!
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. My BFF Clash The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

But there WILL be job losses? And people are voting YES to it?
And are full timers more likely to have more seniority? Thanks postman you might just have proved a point!
Seniority will not have anything to do with it, then you mention last in first out?
And finally Postman your being a tad arrogant suggesting nobody knows but I am wrong?

And what proportion of those who didn't bother to vote were full time/part time?
If you can find the answer to that, then (depending on the answer) you'd have a point. Otherwise, stop making wild accusations. You're as bad as those who thought that the non Delivery Posties had voted the deal in. Dispite there not being enough to do that!

Please try harder Andy
The vast majority of posties no longer care about their future. Nowhere did I split full time and part time with that isolated fact. And no amount of smilies will alter the fact!
What got the vote ratified was peoples LACK of interest. Not full timers, not part timers and not non delivery personal.

There is a difference between not caring about your future and feeling that you are powerless to alter it.
We get the picture Pat....you hate full-timers because you feel full-timers don't give a s**t about part-timers.
Personally i think your wrong but i don't think anyone will change your opinion.

Some do FT, not all. And the ones that do help out get the respect back they deserve.

It's a lottery Pat,f**k knows what is going to happen.
I voted no btw.

Sorry Pat, I made a mistake. Your other two points were about the assumed difference between full time and part time Posties attitudes to Saurday Deliveries. I missed the fact that you hadn't made the same distinction on your second point.
I suppose you're right about Posties in general taking a less active role in votes, and other Union activities. But there's plenty of evidence on here. And of course, the same can be said (certainly in my experience, anyway) of what people are likley to tell you in person too. That they're disilusioned with the CWU. Personally, I still think that the problems can be solved, with some changes at the top. But that's a whole different discussion (which I'd be happy to discuss in a new thread). I think you'll find, that the lack of voters. Was more of a reflection on people's belief (or in this case lack of belief) in the CWU's ability to do anything about the deal. Than people's strength of feeling, and desire to do something about the situation.

Just because some people voted here to get rid of Saturday Deliveries, doesn't mean that we would vote that way in a real vote. As I said previously, it would be great to sit on my arse all day on a saturday, spend time with the kids etc etc etc. But this company seem to be "trying" to make things better for the customer. Should we ask our customers if they want us to stop saturday deliveries? I fancy a little gamble on that one as that's the day when most redelivery requests are made for our office.
I can however see them dropping a Monday to make it a 5 day week, but not a Saturday. Would we have the same response if the poll had asked Get Rid of Monday Deliveries?

No, Saturdays would always be the most popular

Don't give RM ideas, they will sell this as a way to save other companies on staff
I just can't see them getting rid of one of the busier days, and the one day of the week where we seem to get rid of almost everything.
