Royal Mail set to close Welwyn Garden City delivery office
http://www.whtimes.co.uk/news/royal_mai ... e_1_656176" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
PLANS to close the Royal Mail’s WGC delivery office and move postal services to Stevenage have been revealed.
Workers at the Bessemer Road site were told this week that they face being relocated, following a review of Royal Mail’s operations in the Home Counties.
The proposals, which the Welwyn Hatfield Times has seen, would see services at the Stevenage Mail Centre switch to Hemel Hempstead, allowing WGC and Hitchin delivery offices to move into the vacated site, and becoming a Mail Processing Unit (MPU).
It would mean both the WGC and Hitchin offices would close, along with offices in Berkhamstead and Kings Langley.
But staff at the WGC office fear it is the people of WGC and the surrounding area who will suffer, with postmen and women having to travel all the way to Stevenage to collect Welwyn Hatfield post, only to travel back again to deliver it.
One worker, who did not want to be named, told the Welwyn Hatfield Times: “We’re lucky enough to be keeping our jobs, but for Joe Public it means we will have to go back and forth from Stevenage to WGC.
“We’re one of the only public services left, but I don’t see how this is doing any service to the public.”

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Sorry I'm know manager Just a mear humble postie, however I have made it my business over my many many many years to get stuck in and find out everything without relying on a local rep, as some are reasonably clueless eventhough they do do the job no one would even think of doing, sosadlersbitch wrote:I do know the route thank you1wolfie citizen smith wrote:AL7 1AA to SG1 1AAsadlersbitch wrote:This morning the A1 was shut for a period of time so what would be the travelling time then?wolfie citizen smith wrote:AL7 1AA to SG1 1AA

as for assuming your a manager i know of a "manager"(in the loosest sence) who gets called wolfie so apologies if i assumed wrong
however applauding the closure of a delivery office is pretty sad maybe one day it will happen to you? the difference is i wont applaud

If you was to read my text I did not accuse your rep of being clueless however I may of suggested that if you was not happy with there reasonable responce to your concerns then seek advice from Headquaters, which we have already covered.
I accept your apology and let that be the end of that, eventhough I see believe in "FREEDOM FOR TOOTING" \,,/
regarding the closure issue your rep will be well aware of the travel issue to and from stevenage to welling and therefore have extreme convidance that they are supportive in the matter that walks will comply with the RM2000 accountability of walk differencials which have a huge impact on delivery. So if the business wishes to close a delivery office then they must be aware of the conequences that follow
Peace

Do they get outer London weighting in Welwyn. If you go to Stevenage that's gone
