A RUISLIP mother who admitted stealing £14,000 from the Royal Mail through her job at a post office has been ordered to do 150 hours unpaid work.
Carole Snook, 60, of High Street, was a senior member of staff at the Great Greenford Crown Post Office when in April 2009 she discovered a way to scam money from car tax disc customers.
The mother-of-two found that when she inputted purchases from customers for car tax that no payment was required for disabled motorists.
So when someone came into the shop to pay their regular road tax she put in the wrong information and kept the cash instead. She repeated the trick several times between April last year and May 2010.
Prosecutor David Harounoff said: "There were discrepancies relating to three tax discs relating to the Greenford Post Office in April 09, August 09, December 09."
The fraud was uncovered when Royal Mail discovered an unusually high number of disabled disc customers in Snook's name. They found that there had been a large number of transaction alterations recorded on her account.
Snook pleaded guilty to theft and fraud and was given a 12-month jail sentence, suspended for two years, and ordered to do 150 hours unpaid work.

So that's £93 an hour
about ten times what I'm paid
and they used to say that 'Crime Doesn't Pay'

What an odd headline.

There are a lot of mothers out there, after all.
