we had a case recently where someone who works in our office pretended to be one of our managers on FB, out of order i thought, this guy really took it to heart and had to tell old friends that it wasnt really him.

Anyway, the point i want to make is that Facebook absolutley would not provide RM or i think the police without court action with the IP address of the guy who did it and the case was dropped, so maybe deleting it would be a good idea.

RM don't need proof for conduct code action just "reasonable belief".
Scary as it sounds reasonable belief has already been estabilished in this case in my opinion.
For the sake of what action might be taken it comes down to what was reported to have been said and who was it said against.
If the respondent to the charge didn't actually say anything derogatory or malicious about RM or colleagues, but rather it was his facebook friends making the comments then it would be a good idea to keep what was said as evidence if relied on later out of RM procedure.

I bow to superior knowledge, sounds good to me.

Again and i don't know how many times this has to be pointed out.....it's not a court of law..it's not about absolute proof,it's about reasonable assumptions and it's not a reasonable assumption to say that your kids hijacked your FB account and wrote a 500 word essay on how much of a prick your manager is.....be careful.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share
