Well this thread is redundant now, hey,we're gonna have s**t loads of money soon.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Well we at our office had a very similar group meeting this morning.

We were told by the DOM that the government have probably (although he would NOT confirm) been paying our wages for the last 3 months. Then there was the.... "so im now looking to up the rates of currant absorption" :no no

Union rep unbelievably agreed. Sating that in a few months there might not be any jobs and that EVR might not happen and that it will be last in 1st out. Unbelievable coming from him!

Applying Logic I honestly think that before privatisation RM will not go out of business.

The reasons why to answer the above as well..

1. Technically as we are a Government business they have been paying our wages for quite a long time. Its also not new who do you think paid us when RM was loosing £1m a day.

2. If there are no jobs the RM wont exist and prior to, shortly after and during the process of privatisation it would be Political suicide on behalf on the ConDems to let us go to the wall.

3. EVR will happen even if there is a last in first out policy for 2 reasons both connected. The laws of this country I believe entitle employees to a certain amount of redundancy so even if we go out of business we should all get at least SRP, whilst not as generous as RMs it does mean we wont get nothing. Again being a Government controlled business it would be a Political disaster if the business did sack everyone and then not pay out redundancy payments.

As to increasing the rates of absorption or increasing the workload, bring it on - they will have to pay me the hours I work, and as local managers have agreed all overtime is voluntary, they can try as much pressure as they want I will only work over when I want, and when they pay me. If they want free work then ask a charity to supply some volunteers, I go to work to be paid and RM is not a charity so they can and WILL pay me.

 TBT#The only reason privatisation has not happened is lack of investors. They will only appear AFTER the company has gone, (or appears) to have gone bust. After the 'sell off' R/M will buy back in and become a major share holder again. But, only after all jobs as we know them have gone. The writng is on the wall now,

Never mind all that, there's a more important question - what's the name of this site going to be after we are sold off, and what's the colour scheme going to be? I don't think I could stand looking at a bright orange, it'll give me headaches :d'oh!

Why don't they just pay the executives less?!
Been here 7 years now, and I still remember hearing on a program (can't recall which) a couple of years before I started that RM had more staff on £100,000 or over than any other company in the UK, you can bet it's now gone up to around £150,000.
