Provided those managers wanting VR are allowed to go and those who don't are moved over to cover and that the support managers are offered the terms that have been in place for front line managers the 2k will easily be oversubscribed. The raising of the min early retirement age from 50 to 55 could be an issue as could peoples' right to work until state retirement age. The problems that I foresee as with previous changes is that RM tends to be grade rather than skills driven which often results in a lot of square pegs in round holes.

RM is top heavy with useless managers, they need culling cos at the mo they are highly paid and seriously under worked. Front line staff, especially in delivery don't need to worry one single bit.

Apparently the first wave has already started. Also, your colleagues seem to have misread the original post. This is not about Operational Managers, this is about support staff (probably mainly in London and Chesterfield/Sheffield). There is supposed to be a reduction of 2000 of these people and they have apparently been told that if they are not allocated a job then they will be expected to take VR, if they do not do that then they WILL be made compulsorily redundant. In the past the business has threatened that there may be a possibility of redundancy but this time they have explicitly stated there will be. Irrespective of your view of managers there is no doubt that as soon as the first manager is made redundant then the precedent will have been set and, well, you probably know the outcome.....

I thought even "Support Staff" were members of the CMA, the same as our beloved managers. They're obviously not CWU members or they would have been sold out ages ago.
