An armed robber disguised as a postman was wrestled to the ground by two iron bar-wielding women, a passing policeman and a group of burly men.

The bumbling robber proceeded to trip over a table before falling to the ground. The group then grabbed his getaway car keys from his pocket, forcing his accomplice to escape on foot.

The shambolic attempted robbery took place in Battle yesterday.

Shop assistants Susan Jenner, 67, and Maria Swain, 44, watched as the robber entered Friar House Antique Jewellery dressed as a postman at 11am but then struck him repeatedly with iron bars when he started attacking displays.

One man was forced to the ground by passers-by and then arrested by police.

Detectives were yesterday questioning one man on suspicion of attempted robbery and were looking for a second man who is thought to have managed to grab a few pieces of jewellery as he fled.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

TRUE STORY: They were filming a "Crimewatch" robbery in London jewellers, and an off duty Transport Police copper, oblivious of the cameras, sound crew and cast/extras, started hammering the main actor over the head with a truncheon. He ran out of the arcade shouting, "Call the Police! Call the Police!"

They had to catch him up, and then explain what he had done.

Plonker...
