Re: PAPAL VISIT
The stamps issued by Isle of Man commemorating the visit of Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to Britian next month (September) have printed the wrong location name due to a recent change in venue for the Papal Mass by the Roman Catholic Authorities.
The initial plans were for the Pope to beatify Cardianl Newman at Coventry Airport but due to the large number of expected visitors to the beatification the venue has been changed to Coventry Airport.
The sheets of stamps published by the Isle of Man with the wrong information had already been sent to dealers worldwide in advance of its issue date and therefore it was too late to recall the stamps back.
The stamps were issued on the 11th August 2 commemorate the beatification of Cardinal Newman and the first papal visit to Britain since May 1982, when Pope John Paul II’s six-day tour drew huge crowds.
Prime Minister Gordon Brown extended a formal invitation to the current Pope and the trip is the first official state visit by a pontiff, as that of John Paul II was on a pastoral basis and did not follow an official invitation by the UK government.
The miniature sheet features two stamps featuring Cardinal Newman and a label image of Pope Benedict XVI

and has the Pope even heard of the Isle of Man, let alone thought of visiting it ?

That's the danger of cut and paste, you only guess what you're putting on here.RedBagMan wrote:Lounge Lizard wrote:The initial plans were for the Pope to beatify Cardianl Newman at Coventry Airport but due to the large number of expected visitors to the beatification the venue has been changed to Coventry Airport.

Re: PAPAL VISIT
Don't understand why you weren't able to take out walks, when the Pope was visiting it was business as normal, even though two of our districts walks are on the edge of Bellahouston and access was reduced for the vans by road closures. Do you not go out if its raining too?.

So he should get on well with one of the Queen's grandsons then.BELIAL wrote:Well the guy was a member of the Hitler youth, but hey we all make mistakes![]()
and would he see it as a mistake if Germany had won the war ?
And if Cardinal Newman is becoming a saint for converting from C of E to catholicism, isn't that just what Tony Bliar did a couple of years ago ?

Is that a warning sign that a catholic priest might be taking a gullible trainee priest away for "Training" in the locality?Aprilaydee wrote:

Funny how the Catholic church is seen as fair game to all the collective wits (and rightly so) and yet Islam is not, and shall not be made fun of in any context....
