NEIGHBOURS in Addlestone say they are sick of waiting for the postie after suffering six weeks of delays and delivery problems.

In Douglas Road and Prairie Road, deliveries are often made at 3pm - an hour after Royal Mail's target time.

Some days, the post arrives even later - or not at all.

Mum-of-three Deborah Morton, 48, of Prairie Road, said her household received no post for five days between Tuesday, September 7, and last Saturday.

She said: "We didn't have any post delivered to our house, even though we usually get some every day. These past two weeks have been the worst."

Caroline Brotherton, 36, of Douglas Road, said: "Post can come at any time between noon and 3pm - there's just no way of knowing. There was an occasion when I was waiting for letters from my solicitor and they just weren't coming through."

Similar problems have been reported in nearby Walton and Weybridge, where one man claims he was told by a Royal Mail member of staff that there were not enough workers to deliver the mail.

Granted that there isn't enough staff but not everyone gets mail every day! I sometimes go for days without a delivery and I can see the fitting with my mail is emptied every day!

Oi!!! Customers, you 'aint had it so good, and the good news is, there's further improvements along the lines of those you've already been lucky enough to experience heading your way!!!!!

We did warn you, but you turned against us and buried your heads as deep in the sand as you possibly could, and hey presto, you now have the service you deserve, with a more costlier, even less reliable one, coming your way once the spivs in Westminster flog off RM to foreign spivs in the private sector.

I had someone phone up and complain that they hadn't received any letters for 3 days.... even more annoying was my lino asking for an explanation, like it needs an explanation FFS!

If I did, I would say, Ian, old chap, despite moving deliveries from two daily to just one, from early morning to late afternoon, stopping Sunday collections, bank holiday collections, reducing the number of postmen/women needed to successfully complete the delivery of all due mail on any given day, and with further, errr, improvements, such as, reducing the number of pillar boxes that good folk like yourself need when posting whatever you need to post, and introducing even later times for delivery of post from late afternoon to early evening, coming to an area near you very soon, I can honestly say, Ian, you and every other customer in the land, have never had it so good!!!

As you surely must have observed, being a pathological liar is a prerequisite for becoming a Royal Mail spokesperson!!!!
Pretending we're a private company, and not a public service, has brought us in line with 99.9% of all other British businesses.
