Hit and run hurts postie

POLICE are seeking a driver who failed to stop after injuring a postman in a crash.

The injured man was cycling in West Street, Burgess Hill, when he was struck by a car.

The accident was seen by passers-by who went to his aid and ambulance crew checked him for injuries.

The man was off sick from work at his base at the Royal Mail in York Road, Burgess Hill, earlier this week but was not thought to have serious injuries.

The crash happened at about 2.50pm on Wednesday of last week.

The 39-year-old postman received minor leg injuries and was treated at Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath, but did not need to be admitted.

Sussex Police said: “The car, described as a white Peugeot 307 with a “58” prefix plate, failed to stop at the scene. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to call

Sussex Police on 0845 60 70 999 and quote serial 941 of 8 September.”
