As far as i know the pension defecit has been reduced from over £10b to £8.2b? So that must becoming less of an issue. All you need is one good year on the price of shares going up and whatever else Royal Mail has invested in for the defecit to be reduced dramtically . Royal mail refused to comment on it. But i can see trouble with the agreement. We all know deep down it was only about savings and now they're seeing all round the country that offices are making minimal savings, no savings at all or on some occasions hours are having to be put back in. In a lot of areas in Scotland they're trying to run offices now on a capacity plan and throwing the agreement out the window completely. Only offices with a strong union rep or men in the know are stopping this.

I have a plan for my D.O. Take 4 urban duties and 2 rurals out and redeploy 40 hours against growth. Thats 200 hours but RML want 540 hours.

My plan is the bare brutal maxium that could work and undoubtedley would mean cut offs and overtime on busy days.

However to be honest I even have doubts that is the bare brutal maixium, with two rurals gone that means all IPS done by urbans and to absorb 4 urban dels and the IPS of 8 rurals would proably only work in the summer lull period. Certainly wouldnt work on last weeks mail levels.

540 hours out would take a very brave or foolish manager :hmmmm

This is truly unbelievable. Discussing various issues this morning regarding the plans for privatisation and the effects it would have, I predicted that the agreement would come to a halt, and particularly the "bonus" payments. I work in a sub office, and for the last 4 weeks all we have been hearing about is how the deliveries section in our local large mail centre have all received their "bonus." After fielding calls from all the subs in the area constantly demanding to know why we haven't recieved anything yet, despite being linked to the deliveries section for anything and everything for the last god knows how long, management and union joined forces to issue a paper sent to all the subs telling us to... stop asking where your bonus is! Later on we were told that the union was reckoning to sort it out and that if everything went to plan then subs should be paid the first part of the bonus "by the end of the year- won't that be nice for Xmas" said the rep trying to get us on side. This was before the latest privatisation balloon went up. I guess those of us who haven't recieved anything yet despite going through all the changes can kiss the money goodbye? And what about those who have recieved it? Will they be made to pay it back?
I know this is all speculation at the moment, but it all smacks of the truth. Looks like my pessimistic prediction of this morning is coming true. And if I ever see Richard Hooper, I'll be beating him to death with the 6 bags loaded with 16kg of mail that is "dropping off" which I have been delivering every day for the last 4 weeks during so called summer quiet season.

Well it looks like the deal of the century has turned in the the still birth of the century. We are no nearer a revision than the day the deal was signed. I think that the proposed savings had been calculated on areas that hadn't changed in the last 7 years and those of us who had couldn't make any more savings and in some cases had to increase hours under the IWT.

TBH if the privatisation is a goer, and it looks like a priority from this ConDem lot, the situation would be that huge amounts of money would be invested for someone else to reap the benefit.....................I mean if you were selling your house would you fit all new carpets, bathroom and kitchen?...........No me neither.

How about Higson and CWU came out and currently say how it is, or at least let us know what the feck is happening. It seems every office has a different "way ahead", whilst some haven't even started on revision, IWT - mine included.

We NEVER get updates from Higson. We NEVER now hear from the CWU on any matters.

At least the last bad lot (Crozier/Leighton) wrote to us periodically. This bunch just want to rush everything through, massage the figures, cut offices/jobs etc without any word. And all this with the for sale signs soon to be up.

Dingo,
The only way to go, is to oppose so-called modernisation which leads to cuts in service, worse levels of service, job losses, and worsening terms & conditions for us poor buggers left carrying the can for the imbeciles in the RM boardroom.

Also, this fallacy the CWU is suffering from, that they can work with the snakes & spivs, the dinosaurs wanting to drag working people backwards into unacceptable levels of poverty, both now while at work, and later when retired, this fallacy must be binned, and binned for good.
When a union colludes with management to attack workers, that union has no viable future.

Will the rationalisation of mail centers be put on hold or is that already a done deal,if the 2010 agreement is a dead dog,we are still not certain this is fact yet.The tuc and acas helped broker the 2010 deal,i hope they let the members of the public know that it was'nt the union that scuppered the deal.

I don't think the Agreement will be allowed to collapse as it's demise would surely cost the jobs of some senior RM managers including possibly Higson himself.
My worry is what actions will be taken to get it back on track and achieve the savings Royal Mail want.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Well, this whole "thing" stems from Higson and his little army of helpers. They have reaped what they are sowing, and it's a pile a shite - they know it but are too faceless to admit they need to go back to the drawing board.

Part of the agreement was to renew relations between staff, management and union - they have done the opposite of this and morale is at its very lowest; even lower than strike periods. Perhaps if Higson was to be relieved of his duties, things may improve over time becasue from what I can see this chap is the crux of the problem. Who all remembers his "style" on various news channels during the last round of strikes.

Am losing mininum of £30 p/w - £120 p/m - £1440 per/annum.. Now with Privatisation i ain't gonna see next years payrise or the magical figure of 3.5% in 2012, Phantom Shares are gonna be worth about the same as a roll of Andrex and have the same use.
