Pet dog owners who find that their animals goes mad when the postman pushes letters through the door could take advice from one expert.
Writing for the Telegraph, pet specialist Pete Wedderburn said that animal lovers could start by making sure that the dog is in a different room when the mail is delivered in order to help it become less excited.
Another option is to set up a training session where the dog is taught to sit or stay every time post is dropped through the letterbox and offering a treat to reinforce good behaviour.
Mr Wedderburn claimed that if these do not work, "a simpler idea altogether would be to install a box to collect the mail as it's dropped in by the postman".
The expert recently reminded dog owners that want to brighten up their pets by painting their nails that they can get specially-designed nail varnish which is not harmful to the animals.

This reminds me of a tip given to me by an old postman. Put a small tear in the envelope about halfway down. Keeping your fingers clear of the letterbox, put the mail in slowly, when the dog grabs the mail RRRIIIIPPPPP!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Or don't own a dog if you don't want your mail chewed up.
Nobody else thought of that ?
