Royal Mail opens two more on-site gyms

Royal Mail has added on-site gyms to two of its depots: the Mount Pleasant and Paisley sorting offices.

Royal Mail now has 27 sites run by Energy Fitness Professionals (EFP).

The onsite gyms offer fitness consultations and health checks, programming, weight management, cholesterol and body stat testing, and one-to-one training sessions.

Jon Durrant, club manager at the Mount Pleasant depot, said: “This is an exciting time for all involved.

"The gym has received a large amount of interest since opening and we have over 150 members to date.”

Martin Booth, UK operations manager for EFP, added: “Gyms at other Royal Mail sites have been successful in improving health and wellbeing of all staff, and we are looking forward to similar results at these two new sites.”

What we really need are sick bays! complete with undertakers and their measuring tapes! will these fascilities be open out of hours, or is one supposed to fit it in with everything else?

First I've heard about this. We used to have a Fitness Centre which was closed and taken over
for the physiotherapy treatment centre.
We also used to have a gym in the basement, but the last I heard was that was closed on H&S grounds
after someone had an accident there.

Good point, well made. I have nothing but respect for people on delivery. It should be and deserves to be better. The management have no pride in anything other than themselves and behave like the snobs they are. Contempt for them, praise for you and a kick in the shins for the CWU for not keeping the management in check both at a local and national level. In fairness, some union reps do try their best, but too many of them are way out of their comfort zone and are cannon fodder for the bosses.

Our EC Delivery staff, well some of them anyway, did use the Fitness Centre and gym at Mount Pleasant.

Our EC Delivery staff, well some of them anyway, did use the Fitness Centre and gym at Mount Pleasant.

That's you London posties..............2 hour delivery but made much more difficult by walking on those golden paths

Yes, it's probbly aimed at the MC staff. Although it'll be available for everyone there. We've had one in the RDC for years. Don't forget, we have a lot of FLT/Scud Drivers, Lorry Drivers, and Managers. All of whom spend the vast majority of their shift sat down.

Same thing happend to a cash centre I worked at a few years ago! Fully refurbished, new alarm system, new telephone system & new tanoy system. Then closed a few months later!!!
