Ive had a few rucks over the years but its not worth getting the sack and having no job. Just get the police involved as you can always say he was trying to steal the mail as they like that kind of thing

What a shite of a day as we got wiped out with flats. The worse being Saga mags AGAIN

. Now i know its work but why oh why do they have to make the packs so smegging heavy

. Went 45 mins over but the rain held off till i got home

Them saga catalogues are doing my head in and I've only had a dozen or so of them so far. I guess they're taking their name too literally.

Oh yeah!!!! bad today for me too, 2 yorks, one of mail and one of packets, took me 6 hours to deliver

which is enough to make anyone a bit punchy

They are a back breaking killer

Some have got up to 5 holiday mags in each pack and must weigh at least 1.5kg

I had a stack which from the floor came almost to my waist and iam 5' 11". Some of the guys were throwing them onto the over load drivers but as i have a van (as DGP) i had to take the smegging lot.

Another twat of a day. Letter for every council house (most of my walk) and craploads of small packets, my delivery pouches were crammed to overflowing with them but strangely not much weight with them. Walk seemed to take an age to get round.

Worst day this week, thankfully I didn't have many parcels/packets. My bundles were generally covering ten to twelve houses, when usually you're talking about twenty-five (minimum). Tomorrow probably won't be as bad in general terms, but the catalogues will take it up to about the same as today.

That's a fair point. All the Saga Mags I've had, and some of the other monthly ones weigh well over 1kg, and they're 2nd class. But, you try sending a packet 1.01kg and the post office say it's too heavy to go 2nd class, it'll have to be either 1st class or standard parcel. Why is there a different rule for the general public? Is it only big companies that are allowed to break our backs?

Today was one of the worst I've seen in 10 years. Too many cuts, not enough staff, too much mail. Managers stopped the sorting, told the guys to clear in, then come back up to do another 45 minutes worth to go tomorrow. They were also begging people to go in this afternoon to sort and even for some to do overnight.
With so many docket grabbers tomorrow is a disaster waiting to happen. Iceberg...Straight ahead. All engines, full steam ahead.
I can here the complaints already, "I can't complete my delivery because I've been here all night sorting."

Had 9 bags worth including lapsed bit, some were overweight too. Didn't post first letter until 11.00am. Got 8 bags done, brought 1 bag back as I had a collections duty to in afternoon so had to be back for that. Manager looked at me like I was a fool for bringing a bag back. I thought 8 bags in 3 hours was pretty f***ing good. Silly me.

I need to escape this job.

I started 9 months ago and refused to just jump on the 'Royal Mail is run by tossers bandwagon' as I wanted to form my own true opinions on the job through personal experience. I've tried my hardest, but it's f***ing true, the company is a shambles.

As a 25 hour a week man, I can truly say the contract is unworkable. At our place it is anyway.

I job share so work a week on/week off

(24 hours Thurs - Sat, 24 hours Mon - Wed, so I do two weeks back to back then a week off)

It is stressful when I'm there, more so now we have collapsed walks to do too. Also the shrouds of packets have always arrived in postcode areas ready to be sorted to the packet frames, but lately they have started coming 'to be sorted' so we have to sort to postcode areas first before we can start on the packet frames

However I did have something to cheer me up - a house I go to has a bull mastiff, and the owner has had a box put onto the gate so I no longer have to go down the drive

Those things were a pain in the arse, had a near 100% call rate today but I wasn't bothered as it meant I didn't have to lapse.

We couldn't even get ours sorted in time, never mind lapsing
