What happens when you add on the increase to basic pay are you still down, break even or slightly up?

What 2010 did was restucture pay with OPG's with plenty of variance in how any given OPG was affected, rather than give us a straightforward payrise.
What 2010 did was restructure the pay for delivery officers in such a way that they do more work for less pay and more so if they are part time. D2D is increasing 4 last week, 5 this week and time? well there isn't any becuase the revision hasn't taken place yet.

Adj. 1. ambivalent - uncertain or unable to decide about what course to follow

How do you get from uncertain to disapprove?...or did it just suit the tone of your post more? :cuppa

I am Daz...it decides how far that figure on the payslip goes.
If you don't figure inflation into your pay rises your pay goes.....backwards.

No The CWU are not in Royal Mails pockets, but IMHO the agreement certainly has meant a change of emphasis (see http://overpaidunderworked.blogspot.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for a more involved post).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As an aside I decided to check my accounts and see what changes have occurred on matched weeks from 09 to 2010 on D2D and ESA payments and Delivery Supplement. These are recorded figures from my own accounts and therefore are obviously only specific to me.

The weeks included are 12 Jun 09- 4 Sep 09 and 11 Jun 10 - 3 Sep 10

D2D payments = £160.22 (including 3 weeks when on holiday or no D2D)
ESA/Pay Protection 2007 = £160.81

Total Payments over 13 weeks = £321.03

Delivery Supplement = 13 x £20.60 = £267.60 (coincidently includes 3 weeks on holiday or No D2Ds)

Total Loss so far £53.43 or an average loss of £4.11 per week

Projected loss based on these figures over year approx £200.
Interesting post Teebs, so i thought i'd do my own calculations based on your criteria .........
and i came up with a profit of £2.41 or an average profit of £0.18 per week
Projected gain for the year is approx £9.40.

Of course, now the cap on D2D's has been lifted, i'm delivering a lot more ........ am i a "winner" ? :d'oh!

Thats the raw figures as in what I received so they include the % increase we got this year. They however do not include or reflect what we would have received under the old style D2Ds but a rough reckoning would be this year I would be up as average is slightly higher than same weeks last year. 2 weeks at 1 - 3 weeks 0 - 6 weeks 3 and 2 weeks 4

It depends what you buy. The biggest financial change for me has been the decrease in my mortgage.
As I don't spend lots of money on clothes, petrol, alcohol, cigarettes etc inflation largely passes me by.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

What is good for the union is sometimes different from what is good for the lay members of the union.

It is up to the reps to decide where their loyalties lie. It comes down to where you feel 'at home'.

DirtyHarry wrote:Dingo,
Your reply to me was three paragraphs long, so I will answer each paragraph in turn.

Paragraph one.
Sums me up, does it? Why, thanks, I am known as a realist, someone who sees shyte for what it is, shyte. Remember that tale from childhood, "The Emperor's new clothes"? Not for me the role of a fawning idiot who will claim that the Emperor's new suit is the best made, the best quality, they have ever seen, even though the doddery old fool is stark bollock naked.
As for extra workload to keep full-time jobs, what a load of crap. I, and a heck of a lot of other colleagues would make 20 minutes, if we're lucky, out of each working day. Royal Mail's senior management morons would then come along, axe my full-time duty, which is what it is, nothing more, nothing less, and reduce it to part-time? Is it any wonder that the public perception of the service we're supposed to provide is at it's lowest that I have ever known in all my time in the job?
My walk cannot, the sorting, the prep, the delivery, CANNOT, I repeat, CANNOT, be done in just 5hrs, no way. It is a full-time job, end of.

Paragraph two.
I don't know about the indoor element reducing, well, in fact, I do, it's not reducing at all. One thing I do know for certain is, the number of bodies, well, in my office anyway, available to do the indoor element has reduced. Last week, on average, we were on the IPS for at least 25 minutes more, and as long as 40 minutes on Thurs & Fri, than we would have been last year. Why? Because so many have been sacked, quit, retired, and have not been replaced. All I'm waiting for is one of those moments when sickness knocks an office for six, so many off sick, so many on AL, so few left to ensure the office is cleared of all due mail. :Very Happy
I just hope you post another message about increasing the workers workloads when that happens. :Very Happy

Paragraph three.
Royal Mail's senior management cretins said, "look here, CWU, we've already designed the workplan, and even though it spares no thought for any of the men &women who have the hardest, most physically enduring, outside whatever the weather, jobs in the whole business, we won't, I repeat, WON'T, rectify what is obviously an inexcusable slap in the face to the only people who ever generate good publicity, good public relations, for the business. Besides, it's our sly way of punishing what used to be a largely strike supporting workforce, ha, ha, ha."
And the CWU's response was, "oh, ok then, we'll let that one go."

2010 and beyond, was, is, a defeat for the workforce, a victory for the most antagonistic, workforce-hating, lying, duplicitous, snide, dishonest, overpaid, lumps of useless senior management shytebags it has ever been my misfortune to slave for. :evil/mad
Thanks again, CWU. For nothing, nothing at all. :evil/mad
Great post and spot on.
