Unhappy branch managers, managing unhappy branch staff, serving unhappy customers.
I think that just about sums up the crown office network at the moment.
Is there anybody out there who is genuinely happy working, or being served, in a crown office?
I wonder do our alleged senior managers realise the damage they are doing to our hardworking crown office staff by running our business in such a shoddy, haphazard way?
Either they do realise and don't care, in which case they are being negligent or they don't have a clue what's going on in which case they are all totally incompetent.
You decide???

Re: Unhappy People Everywhere
It's called managed decline my friend. And POL are fully aware of what is going on.
Do you wonder why there has been no talk on pay?
Seems CWU has got bigger concerns.
On Tuesday 24th August there was a meeting between Andy Furey and Richard Barker.
We are overpaid by £5000 per year, (this has been mentioned before). It transpires that the comparison is against WH Smith staff.
Barker is happy with the results that these "post offices" are getting.
Barker told the union that as of April 2011 there will be closures. And I don't mean offices being franchised, I mean CLOSURES.
This, obviously, got the CWU blood up, but apparently POL are going ahead with whatever 'plan' they have.
To paraphrase Mr. Furey, "If we are not going to be part of any discussion, then they hit the streets."
Did POL flinch? No. Carry on regardless is their opinion, 'cos coflict/industrial action/disputes/strikes won't change a thing.
Unhappy People Everywhere you say? You aren't kidding.
And for those out there that will be rubbing their hands in glee at the prospect of a payoff, Isn't the MTSF due to expire?
A more perfect time to attack us on redundancy terms I have not seen.
In my opinion, they will get a lot more support from the new coalition government than from the last labour lot.
What can be more Tory/Conservative 'forward thinking' than "public sector cuts"?
PS. If anyone from CWU would like to debunk what I have just said please come forward and say it aint so.

Sadly all of the above rings true to me. The question is, what are we going to do about it?billyhayes wrote:It's called managed decline my friend. And POL are fully aware of what is going on.

Re: Unhappy People Everywhere
An excellent and informative post once again from Billy.
"What are we going to do about it?" asks the BFO and I can't help but think there is nothing we can do about it. If senior management are set on a plan and they have the full backing of the Government, as Billy suggests, then we are fighting a losing battle.
I won't say we will have to "grin and bear it" because I don't see much grinning around POL at the moment.

Re: Unhappy People Everywhere
Well I'll be over the moon with any kind of payoff as at the moment i'm hanging in there by my fingertips.
2011 closures cannot come sooner, I feel sorry for those offices not closed or franchised as it can only get worse.
No body in our office enjoys the job, the customers after 30-40 minutes wait are pis*ed off and the managers just try
to paper over the cracks by keeping the peace amonst the sad and unhappy staff.
Some may say why not leave now if it's so bad, well with mortgage and family you cannot just walk away, with payoff atleast
it gives a bit of breathing space to find new job.
And on new jobs, many clerks have left recently due to the pressures, they all have found new positions that they enjoy so working at the
PO is not the be all and end all, there is hope to all.
Thanks for waiting !!! top up your mobile !!! Lets get the fook out !!!
