The fact that such a small percentage actually do what the union advises, as in car and time etc is completely over their head.

Exactly. People need to be woken from this thinking. This idea that other people can do it for you. The union is only as strong as its membership.

So....we all agree that people/members need to be woken from this apathetic slumber.....fine.
...but i don't hear many answers...and to be honest i don't see much interest in tackling that particular problem from those who are paid to organise.
Blaming the members is fine and maybe to a certain extent justified but it is not a solution.

Il try to tackle that one fishtank - first start with our own d.o and have runners one side and militants the other and have one big fight.
Then assuming the militants win we march to the nearest town/city and begin to trash anything globally capatilist, Macdonalds etc (after iv had my double sausage mcmuffin tho).
Then we all begin a pilgrimage to London where we secretly plant explosives under the Houses of Parliament and then begin a new regime where honour and justice and respect (unless ur a scab) are cornerstones in society and your fellow brother/sister is considered in everything you do!
Easy really!

Annual leave is different,but in letters you can't come back on docket if you have been sick.

We only work Mon-Fri so, technically, it would be possible to be fit for Saturday overtime but in practise you couldn't do it as management need to finalise the list at least one day beforehand. To be certain of being fit for Saturday, you would need to be completely fit when putting your name down and if this was the case, you would be back at work.

I can't see how you can be sick or on annual leave on days that you are not contracted to work on.

We have a persone in our delivery office who seems to think that during the strikes we were stupid and tried to encourage people to break the strikes and work. He know is accusing the union as being crap because he has to do more. The mindset in our office is me me me and expect the union to save them but wont support the union any suggestions on how to deal with this individual :cfo

I'M AFRAID YOUR OFFICE IS NOT ON IT'S OWN. OUR OFFICE HAS PEOPLE ( WHO WERE NOT ON PICKET LINES) WHO ACCUSE THE UNION OF DOING F##K A## FOR US !!! THESE SAME PEOPLE ARE THE ONES WHO COME IN BEFORE THEIR START TIME, USE THEIR CARS, DO THEIR LAPSING FREE OF CHARGE IN THEIR OWN CARS ON THEIR WAY HOME. ONE OF THESE W####RS PASSES ME REGULARLY ANYTHING UP TO AN HOUR BEFORE HE IS DUE TO FINISH, EVEN ON A HEAVY DAY.

do what i do and give them the more absorption to do each week and reduce it of the backs of hardworking cwu members.

I was one of a few in our office that stood on the picket line every day,all morning,i was one of a few who encouraged anyone thinking about coming in on those days not to,i was one of a few in our office who actively campaigned around our office telling people we all had to stick together and back the union!

When my colleagues who took my advice come to me and tell me the've had big pay cuts forced on them,and now have an expectation on them to do more work after taking my shite advice,what answer should i give them........Look at the bigger picture? Get another job? I totally understand why some people think the union is shite now,i'm one of them!

It is a reasonable argument that the behaviour of union officials who went around trying to persuade members to vote for this agreement was against union rules as their actions have brought the union in to disrepute.
