Residents hit out at Royal Mail delivery revamp

A FORMER High Wycombe Mayor has branded a decision by Royal Mail bosses to 're-organise' postal delivery routes around the Wycombe district a “shambles”.
Ex-town mayor Jim Tanner hit out at the firm after the organisation's decision to change its delivery routes around the town to 'increase efficiency'.
The Terryfield Road resident said he has consistently received his mail at the same time, every morning for the past 20 years - until last week.
He said: “It's an absolute shambles. I don't call that improvement. There is a saying. 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'.”
Frustrated residents in Downley have also complained to the Bucks Free Press about the revamped rounds, including reader Stuart Cowley, who said Downley residents “only receive junk mail every other day”.
He said: “The parcels do not even get delivered up here. You cannot ring them up, even if you go down to the main sorting office, they fob you off. It cannot continue.”
But Royal Mail insists that the changes were due to a fall in mail volumes and were required to keep up with competition from the internet and email.
A Royal Mail spokesman said: “As part of our commitment to improving efficiency, we have carried out a re-organisation of delivery walks across the High Wycombe area.
"To help meet this challenge, Royal Mail has re-organised aspects of its delivery operations in the High Wycombe area, in line with changes across the UK.
“The re-organisation has involved changes to delivery routes and change such as this can take time to settle down.”

Efficiency.
Do any of Royal Mail's overpaid executives actually know the meaning of the word?
This company has been on a cost-cutting drive for the last eight years, EIGHT YEARS!!!
Efficiency left the Royal Mail building long since, and with the mania for cost-cutting showing no sign whatsoever of abating any time soon, the public's perception of the service they receive from Royal Mail will plummet further.
SDD came in 2003, and to this very day, you can count the number of my customers who have got used to having their mail delivered in the late afternoon on one hand, and still have a few fingers spare with which to stick up in front of any member of the boardroom.
Efficiency, my asss.

The trouble with High Wycombe is it is very hilly and the postie must make sure he doesn't overload that new HCT they have given him.
Though personally I would have just endorsed every letter "Dog at large" and gone home.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
