Hi People,
My names Malcom and I'm an Automation Maintenance Engineer in Gloucester Mail Centre. I'm 45 and I've been at Royal Mail 29 years this year. I have seen about 15 full circles in working practices, the latest fad of cutting as many ground staff as possible and lapsing leave/sick posts is the most worrying and annoying to date. This is the second time round of OEE for me. I don't want to be negative but it didn't work last time and it won' work this time. It's just an underhanded way of cutting posts and costs.
On a positive note, I still enjoy working for Royal Mail and 99% of the people I work with are really nice. :Very Happy

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

It's a job qualification to be on the iLSM's in our office... That and to be a complete "Yes Sir, Whatever you say, Sir" to the Management!!
And after a while, you can work on points for style,
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.

You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to,
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.
