If only us poor minions on the "shop floor" knew........
And after a while, you can work on points for style,
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to,
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

In my office of 89 posties and 3 managers, RM are looking for 20 redundancy's! Leaving 69 staff and 3 managers by the end of March. The axe is already falling.teletubby wrote:Every day there is a new twist..rumour etc. These idiots at the top must by now know where the axe will fall.Which offices to close etc.

Re: why are we waiting for the revision results?
90 odd in my mail centre......
The bloke I've worked with for 10 years is going via EVR - as he's had enough of the bullshit from management and the way we are treated (i.e moved from pillar to post, and STILL expected to clear our section at 5.40am)
My area manager is going at Xmas as well as he too has had enough.
I've done 14 years at RM, and even I'VE had enough of it now - dreading going back tonight after a week off......

Re: why are we waiting for the revision results?
Look there is an agreement where there is a 90 day consultation process which examines the options and allows for a very detailed consultation process including net profit value , where the outward and inward would go etc , the running times , the staff issues etc.teletubby wrote:Every day there is a new twist..rumour etc. These idiots at the top must by now know where the axe will fall.Which offices to close etc.
It also allows for an alternative postion to be put by the CWU. London , South East and the North East all started their reviews on the 3rd of June so Royal Mail does not have to give their perfered option until the 3rd of September. Then a further 90 day process starts dealing with the people issues etc.
In London we have been told that Royal Mail want just one mail centre in London closing two mail centres. In the North East where there are 9 mail centres they want to go down to 3 and in the South East they want to close 4 mail centres and build a new mail centre in Rochester.
There is a further review going on reference the Hemel Hempstead site which involved watford etc . The North West have already been through a major mail centre reduction.
Other then those reviews which I have stated no other reviews are going on in line with the agreement. Thats not to say that Royal Mail have not got a hit list but they have not as yet involved the reps in those divisions / regions in line with the agreement.

Can you give me a single instance where the CWU has successfully made an argument to RM in reguard to any MC closure, and RM have changed there plan?I won't hold my breath waiting...........dingo wrote:Look there is an agreement where there is a 90 day consultation process which examines the options and allows for a very detailed consultation process including net profit value , where the outward and inward would go etc , the running times , the staff issues etc.teletubby wrote:Every day there is a new twist..rumour etc. These idiots at the top must by now know where the axe will fall.Which offices to close etc.

They have/will implement anything they wish to.I'm afraid the CWU is a toothless tiger these days, and no amount of bravdo will ever change that......
same as it ever was...

Re: why are we waiting for the revision results?
Well there have been several cases of the CWU defeating Royal Mail`s plans in the short term , Gloucster mail survived , Southend did many years ago when it was due to close when Seemac was opened. Dartford survived when they had an all out strike as did Liverpool.
However we all know that Liverpool was a short term stay of excution as was Southend and Dartford but all of them made Royal Mail delay their plans by a few years which to many of their members was a massive result.
In London we decided long ago that you cant defend bricks and mortar but you can defend people and we have no intentions of going quitely.
Watch this space. You might see the CWU as toothless , in London the CWU only equals strength and unity.

Each Division does their own thing, some are more successful than others depending on the members.hubbahubba wrote:"Watch this space. You might see the CWU as toothless , in London the CWU only equals strength and unity."

I think that's the crux of it,would i as a Londoner have gone on strike for the MC strikes we had last year for those up north, then yes i would of.
But that's me,many others down here would agree with me,but many wouldn't,which is the same all over.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: why are we waiting for the revision results?
S'funny, I thought that holding off the attempts to close Liverpool MC for several years, was a success story for the CWU. Or did I just imagine the last few years.hubbahubba wrote:"Watch this space. You might see the CWU as toothless , in London the CWU only equals strength and unity."

There have been several success stories, all around the Country. It's not just London. Of course, Coppras Hill will close at some point. There have been too many attempts, for RM to give up now. But at least the CWU is still buying them time.

That's the members POSTMAN.
The senior PAID officials are supposed to hold a different view.
If each division continues to do their own thing this union is going to tear itself apart....just like the PT/FT issue, a little growing up and realising we are all in this together wouldn't be a bad thing.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Re: why are we waiting for the revision results?
Yes i understand but for instance,Scot Num 2 branch who i critised when some of them went out,i asked why did the whole div not come out,i got back that it was hard enough getting those who needed a strike out let alone everyone else.fishtank wrote:POSTMAN wrote:Each Division does their own thing, some are more successful than others depending on the members.hubbahubba wrote:"Watch this space. Those MC strikes around the same time, that was hard work as well to get them out,let alone those in the same div as them.
I'm not bigging London up as we have our fair share of you know what's,but we are probably more organised then most,if others don't give a f**k,then we aint going to be left behind because of it.
Unity is strength,an injury to one ect ect
All bollox mate, more like i'm alright Jack,f**k the rest of ya.
