The Sentinel:
"Dear Sir,
Unable to contact the Royal Mail sorting office in Leek Road by telephone (no one there ever answers the phone) I am going public with this, as it is a matter of some importance to anyone who uses Royal Mail locally. Over a week ago, I sent to a specialist record dealer in Huddersfield for a 45 rpm single record and, with First Class Recorded Delivery, it cost me nearly £16. Today, a week later, having not received it, I phoned the dealer to ask when he had posted it to me and, after some investigations on his part, he told me he had posted it to me on Friday, August 6th and that, doing a check on the Royal Mail Track and Trace website, someone using my name had signed for it on Thursday, August 12th, purporting to have delivered it here. Well, it never arrived here, I can assure you of that and it looks very like it has been stolen.
The regular postman, who is very honest and reliable, is on holiday for a fortnight and all this week, we have had a different postman every day...postmen who are totally unfamiliar with the round and look, as I observe them on their round from my tenth floor flat in Penkhull Court, as though they are totally lost around here. The postman on the morning of Thursday, August 12th made no attempt to deliver any mail to this block of flats and just wandered past here with mail still in his sack. I would like the Royal Mail to investigate this and discover who this postman was who was delivering on Thursday to the Hill Street, Epworth Street area and the flats on and off Honeywall in Stoke. If it wasn't he who signed for my package himself and kept it, then who could it have been? Stealing from the mail is a criminal offence and I want the thief found and brought to book for it. The record was the 1961 single "Settin' The Woods On Fire", by Johnny Burnette on London 45-HLG 9458, which I've been trying to find for years...and I want it back! There is another mystery here, also. As the record was posted to me by First Class Recorded Delivery on Friday, August 6th, where was it for all the following week?"

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Yep a racist, illiterate individual that generalises issues and blames posties for "modernisation" because we are all thieves apprently. Perhaps you should contact him and see if he wants to moderate on here.POSTMAN wrote:Reading the rest of the thread,he can go f**k himself.

Are you sure that this isn't a cut-and-paste job from Private Eye?
This is Angry of Tunbidge Wells only they've changed the location to Stoke.
"Honestly, the state of the country these days. It's gone to the dogs. Johnny Foreigner, bloody socialists, welfare scroungers, teenage mothers and now you can add feckless posties to the list. Bring back hanging for the lot of 'em!"

Does the label read "Settin' the woods on fire - Johnny Burnette"? Could be worth a bob or two.Found a small plastic disc with a hole in the middle...
