It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

A new pair of Cat trainers have lasted me a shocking four months! Now showing massive wear on the sole (big grey patches on heels), no doubt down to my "bow-legs" angling the shoe contact to the ourtside edges of each shoe...

Further info, under the tongue on the newer magnums, it does indeed provide the data on its testing.

They are classed thus:
From EN ISO 20345
E - energy absorbing seat region

Slip resistance rating:
SRC - tested on ceramic surface with “soap” and on steel with glycerol

From EN ISO 20347 - Occupational Footwear
(Occupational footwear is not required to have a protective toecap)

FO – sole resistant to fuel oil
OB – basic requirements for occupational footwear met

This of course does idicate that those shoes most importantly are not Water Resistant nor are they Insulating against Cold. Basically forget them in Winter or Rain if comfort is at all essential.

Now it may seem as if I'm being overly argumentative here but surely whoever looks at the function of Delivery Shoes would have allowed for their comfortable use in wet conditions! If the 1992 PPE at work regulations state that it is properly assessed before use to ensure it is suitable and that it offers adequate protection for its intended use, then Royal Mail have failed in their legislative duties.
