Jersey's branch of the Communication Workers Union are petitioning the States to stop proposed cuts to the island's postal service.
They'll be gathering signatures in town tomorrow and next Saturday.
The States want to cut deliveries to three times a week and introduce more competition.
Derek Coster of the Jersey Branch of the CWU, said: 'We're hoping that as many people want to save their postal service, that they want to maintain the levels they've got at the moment, we're hoping they'll sign it and we're hoping they'll sign it in enough numbers to make the States look up.'
The petition will read:
We, the undersigned, petition the States of Jersey as follows:
1) To ask Jersey Post not to cut deliveries back to a three-day week.
2) To direct the JCRA not to allow postal competition until such times that Jersey Post has completed the efficiencies and savings currently being introduced, allowing time for them to take effect.
3) To help Jersey Post maintain their Universal Service Obligation by contributing any shortfalls as a result of competition being introduced to the local postal market.

"The States want to cut deliveries to three times a week and introduce more competition."
the most southerly bit of the British Isles first, then all the UK.
