Just a stab in the dark, but I'd guess it would be all about how to use the new agreement to make the simpletons do more work for less money.
I could be wrong :whistle :left: :left: :left: :left: :left: :left: :left: :left: :left: :left:

At the moment Royal Mail want to use weeks 11 -17 from last year (june , july ) or weeks 41 -44 in January. Their solution is to take the lower of these two avearages meaning that you flex up rather than laspe in periods of avearage traffic.

It will also include a matrix of issues which have either been resolved or are still to be resolved.

These include every thing from CDV guidelines , to barometer walk count process , d2d contracts not being equal across an office , upper decile benchmarking process , test call rate calculator in live enviornment , cwu concerns on model week packets and flats , process for removal of cars , training package for local reps and Doms , fatugue / heat study , Scotland fatigue study , Birmingham traffic study, validate d2d prep , plus a few other issues.

No one can argue that every issue is being drilled down on to ensure that revisions are correct , but if local offices allow managers to do what they want then that is their fault, the engagement process should ensure that local offices are protected.

Can you ellaborate on this. our union rep has resigned due to area manager wanting 110% bsi and 12 as the prep rate which is from start to leaving the office. Also no ringfence of hours for waiting on lift to leave office.

Area rep says, " thats fine i'll just sign everything off" and is in full agreement.

Of course you are B - you don't seriously think your union would throw you to the wolves without support surely :whistle

I notice it's Thursday and the Monday Joint Statement delayed til Thursday is delayed again - so what about the 37 points that have almost been resolved but not quite - whilst in the meantime the Revisions and preparations go ahead. Course there is always the "grow a pair" but that's a bit difficult when you don't know what has been agreed.

41 to 44 have been abandoned I was told by a planner yesterday.

BD

What i would like to know is,
Why are people allowing RM to cut hours and do more lapseing on the back of what IWT says.
I have refused outright in my DO to let any hours come out lapsed or not just because IWT says we can. IWT as a tool is agreed yes,
but the important part the settings that go in are not so no-one should be excepting a loss of hours ect until all the settings ect are agreed.

Because the communication from the union on this is muddled and unclear.
I sometimes wonder if Dave & Bob know what's been agreed and what hasn't.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

I made the same point to my DOM and area rep, plus i pointed out that all the deliveries in the office were forced in by EA using Geo Route last year which also has not been agreed and therefore if the the walking speed has been reduced and we receive signing time etc in the new parameters (thats if they havnt reduced letterbox time) then we are currently saving hours on the outdoor content. On top of that no H&S from vehicle checks to recording bag weights are being adhered to.

The following day AR agrees with DOM to cut hours from office and to extend summer lapsing for a further 6 weeks.
Oh but this triggers a £200 pay out! silver dollar sir? yes please masa!

Can you please tell me how an area representative can make that decision without the express consent of the workforce. If this has not been given then I believe you should be taking out a grievance with the CWU and at the same time telling Royal Mail that this person has acted unilaterally without the will of the workforce and that you do not accept the decision that has been taken.

Well apparently an office vote isnt needed as the CWU have been consulted at all levels.
It dosnt help when the IR rep is currently suspended and up for the chop and he was going to go to disagreement
over this but as soon as he was suspended this change was announced.

Obviously HQ are to blame for this sort of thing going on, theres gaping holes in the agreement and they are letting
Royal Mail set the pace in certain areas and thats leaving area reps (rightly or wrongly) to make managerial type decisions,
for example agreeing to use IWT without the full parameters being known and then on the back of this make predictions
and fast track savings meantime.

Most important of all is the 'what can we do' attitude of the staff, the majority come in early and that leaves any rep disagreeing with DOM or AR in a no win situation.

I know, but it has only been 20 days since the original notification that information would be forthcoming  there just must be a load of tea/coffee and biscuits and of course expenses money left.

I went to Blackpool zoo last week and the horrendous chattering in that monkey house was ceaseless, they never seemed to resolve their differences as to who was in charge and who got the banana :cuppa
