Who knows whether it's true? However it is true that royal mail has a cash flow problem at the moment hardly surprising given the investment they have put in thus far in Cdvs , CSS machines etc and given the fact very few revisions have come in.
So if this rumour is anywhere near the truth,would Royal Mail want to cut the mail center consultation down to 3 months and get on with the cull,setting up the new super mail centers asap and sell existing mail center sites,also merging delivery offices into super d/o's.

Yes, i just mentioned that i had heard that Royal Mail had cash flow problems as a result of struggling DHL, TNT, etc. delaying making payments for their DSA.

We had the rumour a week or two ago, no-one had heard it until our manager called us together to tell us it was wrong. Apparently RM is in fiscal trouble however not enough that wages will be an issue - essentially I think next to no bank balance, running pretty much day to day. Union are aware of it. Our overtime is slashed and no sign of it coming back soon, MC is too far over budget.
I think this explains why my DOM and his superiors are determined to lapse SA hours, even though in a few months time we have a sustainable home for them via revison activity.

There will be a determined attack on SA. It is expensive and unnecessary. Despite the protestations of wanting to maintain earnings for the members there is absolutely no effort being mounted to sustain them, other than the "preserving full time jobs" mantra that means nothing.
SA Collections should only be traded for maintaining full time jobs IF that can be shown to be sustainable in the long term and not be traded off for part time duties at a later date.
Full time jobs under the present regimen cannot be sustained for the most part and the CWU should recognise that and make a determined effort to shorten the working week for full timers.
This rumour reared its head again today at work,with someone saying RM did infact have to be bailed out with respect to wages,it appears they are struggling to get paid by the companies sending through the dsa mail
Can RM actually go bust or more to the point would the goverment let RM go bust
Perhaps its about time RM top management grew a pair and told the DSA leeches to f**k off. If it is true and the parasites arn't paying surely they are in breach of contract and that contract should be cancelled immediately.
