do we get to choose our preferences before the planner arrives or after, because we've got one in our office, but as yet no 1 to 1's.

Not sure about the preference exercise someone else will hopefully answer it for you. However, the 1-to-1s are part of the revision process so that duty holders can inform the planner of local conditions that the planner is unaware of.

No parking areas, high crime, residents only parking, permit required, one way traffic, school zones, lots of stairs, coded access etc.

5.
In order to inform the revision discussions and provide a reference for employee aspirations, including options around Saturday attendances in line with the paragraph on attendances and duty structures an informal non binding preference exercise (provided nationally) will be carried out prior to the commencement of the 6 step revision process.

I have always thought that aspiration was a peculiar word to use under the circumstances - I mean aspiration is something to aspire to, which is not the same as a preference for a certain set of circumstances which are going to be delineated by the work plan - an aspiration would be without limit :cuppa

The new attendance patterns arer not proving overly popular at my D.O, were running on 30% of the workforce wishing to switch away from the current 5 day week fixed day off we do at the moment.

Some of them want a 5 day week rotating day off as this gives them a long weekend every 6 weeks without any drastic alteration to their attendance pattern.

All the fixed sat off bods will be wishing to stay the same, some of them will some wont.

It was only 2007 when I put the day off system to a vote and 5 day week fixed day off was very strong then and still is despite staff leaving/joining

Well according to the matrix it should be possible to cater for a multitude of shift patterns within an office ..................however, perhaps the reality of a working unit is different to the paper ones discussed in meetings by the CWU and RM. This is where individual unit reps have to put aside personal preferences and take into account what the majority of aspirations are.

Very true dvb...there are approx 9 example duty structures plus we have come up with a couple of variations of our own so that's 11 duty options.
If you put all of these to a vote in a large office every one will attract at least a couple of votes.
Not even a good manager could run an office with 11 different duty options and good managers are not exactly easy to find in this company.
So somebody's bottom lip will be stuck out after this

:Very Happy :Very Happy Ours is a straightforward 5 days with a rotating day off for everyone except for a few indoor Mon to Fri and the odd shared 6 day week, with varied start times because of the plethora of part timers and they cannot manage that - so how they would manage multiple shift patterns :whistle
