Wrong - this forum has no contact or dealing with Royal Mail and for you to suggest a thing even in jest is disappointing, and quite frankly could be damaging to RMC.

No

AFAIK

However, such a recording cannot be used in any legal case without the judge ruling it admissible, though that is rare.

You can record any conversation, meeting which you take part in as long as it is only for your own private use and not to published or released into the public domain.

Which in essence amounts to the same thing.

Post Bitch you are quite wrong what you are saying, for one nothing has been said out of proportion or the moderators would not allow it on, its against the data protection for this site to hand over any details regarding IP address’s.

Its just that I am putting ideas in the posties heads and you don’t like this, quite often some of us get bullied at work, so I won’t be bullied on here to what I can or can’t put on, its not illegal to film anybody unless its children without the parents consent, I film on holiday, and I was filmed coming out of Marks and Spencer’s this morning, nobody asked my permission.

You can record anyone at any time, many people record meetings etc and its commonly known for Drs to do this as well as other sources, so please don’t come with these E Mails will be going to my managers office through my IP number scenario. There is five members of my family that use this PC, how will RM know and prove which one it is, the judge would laugh at a case like this.

And you seem to think this site is linked to RM, Please do me a favour, and thanks to True Blue Terrier for pointing these issues out.
Maybe if more posties put record on their phones managers might treat us with more respect.

Off to charge my batteries for Monday now….

I don't think some people on here fully realise the difference between illegal and unlawful.
The recording of people without their permission is not illegal but it is recognised by the The Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 as a civil wrong....unlawful.
I would strongly advise anyone to think twice before they do this unless they want to be sued by the person they are recording.

You could tell the Manager, that you are about to start recording the conversation, before hitting record. You see, the problem with making these recordings, is that if you don't nform the other person/people that they're being recorded. It's unlawful to use that recording against them (unless a Judge overrules this). But if you INFORM THEM that you're recording the conversation, there's NOTHING they can do to prevent you using the recording. :hmmmm That's why so many Call Centres have a little recording, when they first pick up. Telling you that calls are recorded (and usually why too).

Now obviously, the Manager could refuse to continue with the meeting/converstion, because it's being recorded. But you just get around that, by refusing to continue, BECAUSE the Manager refuses to let you record it.

bitch,don't be an arse.

Moving on,if i felt bullied and obviously my bully does not think it's bullying and that what he/she is doing is just the way it is,i would when confronted say hold tight a sec, just let me put my phone on to record this.

Simples.

Also any news on what the office feel about this.
There is not a single person in my office that i would let get bullied, even if i don't get on with them.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I am the secretary of a institute where I live and I attend many meetings, I use my digital camera to record many of sessions as nobody can go back on their words that way, plus I can play it back for the meeting minutes, never has anyone disagreed with me using it, the fact of the matter is if a manager has nothing to hide he/she should not have a problem having it on record.
On phoning company’s nowadays most calls are taped for abusive and racist remarks as well as agreeing contracts such as buying mobile phones over the phone etc.
I still would not film managers as for RM security reasons they would not like it one bit…
