TRIBUTES have been left for a Portishead teenager who died after colliding with a car in the early hours of yesterday (Thurs) morning.
Named locally as Gaz Hedges, the 19-year-old died in Frenchay Hospital after the accident in Nore Road at 1.30am, which saw a Skoda Fabia collide with the teenage pedestrian.
On the social networking site Facebook, pages of messages have been left by friends and family of the popular teenager, who worked as a postman.
Some of the messages read 'Gaz you were one of a kind mate, never a day without a smile' and 'One of the funniest, friendly and good-natured people I have ever known, if not the only one'.
Other tributes say 'Gaz you were probably the most friendly person I had the pleasure of knowing, you will be greatly missed buddy' and 'To the happiest person I ever met, the world needs more people like you'.
Police are appealing for witnesses to yesterday's accident and anyone who may have seen the teenager in the Nore Road area to contact the collision investigation unit on 0845 456 7000.
