Here's a funny story....

A guy works in an office in the city. He takes his lunch hour and goes to the bank to pay some bills, meets his girlfriend for a bite to eat and then goes and buys himself a new shirt for Friday night. He returns to the office. No one bats an eye lid.

Now tell yourself that story again except replace "a guy works in an office in the city" with postman on a residential delivery. Then replace "No one bats an eye lid" with The postman is a lazy selfish sod because........ :hmmmm

Flexibility works both ways - cut off - take your M/R at home or at toddlers etc - back to work - if you finish 10-20 minutes late who cares - don`t book it , relax and count your lovely tax credits like wot I do.

If it was a woman, they would bat an eye lid, as they'd be pouring over the item of clothing bought for the Friday night for the next 2 hours! :Very Happy

I'll get my coat!

Maybe I should clarify my position and try and explain to you where I'm coming from.
To quote David Brent 'There is no 'I' in team but there's a 'me' if you look really carefully!

To the person that throws your walk off so you can get out on time and won't disrupt your schedule, there's no 'me' in team.

To the driver that conveys your bags out (and maybe puts them on the van for you) to your safe drop so that you can do what you want with your break, there's no 'me' in team.

To the union members and leaders over the years that struggled and fought to give you a paid break from work to do what you want, there's no 'me' in team.

See where I'm coming from now? No, I don't have children and I don't have a car - neither fact is relevant to my argument

Technically and legally you may well be entitled or 'allowed' to do as you wish with your break but I feel that morally your argument is deeply flawed. You asked for advice at the beginning of your post and I assume that by posting in the first place you knew that you may well attract negative comments. If you don't like the heat.............

Sorry on that particular post - No :d'oh! :hmmmm :hmmmm

Completely confused and my comprehension of difficult and convoluted arguments got me a certificate once. :left: :left: :left:

That's an argument not to take breaks which is certainly a No No. Anyway the person prepping the walk will not be affected by when the OP takes their break.

Again has no bearing on when the OP takes their break.

So, if with permission, and no effect on others he can take this hard earned break at a time best suited to his situation. Of course if and when CDVs come in his manager and he will need to revisit the agreement again.

I fail to see the issue if the guy manages to take his daughter wherever he needs to as long as it's done within his 30 minutes.
Unless RM have now decreed what it is we actually do with that 30 minutes now...
As for this smelly cat character, she clearly has some issues.Maybe she'd be better "getting another job" if a simple question like that gets her in such a state.

Must be just me then. All these people helping someone that 'doesn't care' what anyone else thinks or does things that only benefits themselves

Besides, I'm confused about the break allowance - she only works 5 hours a day? According to TBT you only get a break when work 6+ hours??

25hr contracts get 30mins a day.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

You are confusing the legal minimum entitlement with your employer's agreed entitlement.

Funny thing about that is IF and it's a big if a 25hr contract was to go to a 3 day 8hr20 min attendance they would move to a 40 min meal relief but would actually "work" 30mins more a week.

A huge IF more like!
Anyone with anything even remotely resembling a social life would have to be insane to agree to constant Fri/Sat/Mon.But then again, after the yes vote nothing surprises me about CWU members anymore.

Could not have put this better myself.
