SUNDAY STAFFING

Post by hubbahubba »

Can anyone tell me how their MC manages to staff the sunday day shift, after all night work was stopped as per the national directive?
The eary shift at my MC is in the process of being stiffed(the mech section at least),as they already have to do a 10 HOUR saturday, which will soon become a 10 1/2 HOUR saturday! And now it looks they will also be doing a 8HOUR shift on a SUNDAY!!! :no no
add to this that you will not be getting 2 consecutive days off(monday and "another" week day tues-fri),and you get to see exactly what RM thinks of family friendly!! :arrrghhh
same as it ever was...

unless your section votes it in as a normal working week all sundays are s/a or o/t and i would strongly recommend that you dont do that as we did in our section and it is a load of bollocks.
who the hell invests £2 billion into a servic and makes it worse?????????????
you really couldn't make it up!!!!!!!!!!!

we are having a full MC resign as a result of this, and have been given 3 options by RM/CWU.There has been 3 union meetings, where sunday working has been thrown out every time, but RM have come back saying"If the union/members cannot come up with an alternative to their proposed duties, that they will choose one of the options themselves! The union went to a stage 2 disagreement, before a regional rep came down, and said we couldnt strike over this(i am guessing this is because of the "no strike" clause in the 2010 transformation agreement?).Everyone is well pissed/worried over this, and it looks like we gotta put up with this All ive seen since this "new" partnership between RM/CWU is our conditions worsen!!!!!

You're wrong about that.It was agreed by the national CWU,the only thing that can be done at a local level is how you staff it.In my MC,the union agreed that the night shift would do the sunday.
